My takeaway from this Lukaless half... Luka doesn't need 41% usage for the Lakers to have a good offense. Going to burn himself out or get hurt.
Less is more for the long haul.

Have no idea who this is, but he’s a living breathing 7ft human, so it’s extremely likely he’s better than 2026 Looney
Just In: The Los Angeles Lakers and Lawson Lovering have agreed to a two-way deal, agent Drew Kelso of @OneMotiveSports told @hoopshype. The 7-foot center averaged 7.0 points and 7.5 rebounds in two games with the Memphis Grizzlies last season.

Walker Kessler is scoring 23.2 points per 100 possessions on-court for LA's half court offense.
That drops to 14.3 vs drop coverage, w/his scoring chances dropping from 16.1 to 11.9 per 100 when facing drop.
His assist output nearly triples 👀

This is all good, but also NBA season is WAY too long as it is. Pace is up, intensity is up, new draft reform means even less breaks. Players going down with injuries in waves after a week.
This will take a while for JJ. Completely new team, so learning phase cant be avoided.
LMAO watching JJ learn in real time what lineups just can’t be played is crazy. The NBA should consider adopting a Slate of practice games prior to the start of the regular season where coaches can learn which lineups go together and which lineups are a net negative before the games actually count. They can call it something interesting like… preseason.
RT @RichStapless: Luka it’s our the mud, homie.

Both 1) the ball placement on this pass & 2) the no dip shot are insane
Also, Utah's in drop coverage and STILL has to tag Kessler hard to prevent the lob. This 3-pointer isn't there without that roll gravity.
A normal pro of drop is not needing to leave shooters to tag. Kessler's a scheme buster.

If the Kuminga sweepstakes doesn’t happen for LAL, a trade for another rim-protecting center is likely.
The best team to deal with is ORL. The Magic is loaded in the frontcourt but lacks guard depth to backup Desmond Bane.
Lakers: Goga Bitadze
Magic: Hardy, Knecht, 2 seconds

Only reason Austin reaves isn’t on my agenda is because he plays for them but this easily 1 of my favorite players. Nice af
Has not been an all star but he is 1 of the best players in the league full stop. Can look any guard in the eye. Superstar guard

If a perfect 22 points in just over 10 points for 2026 Brook Lopez isn't enough to sound the alarm on the backup center position for us, I don't know what will.

This is ours now ❤️
We will see plenty of lobs. We’ll also see more layups on drives against no rim protection because they’re scared of the lob over the top.
But mostly lobs, then hoping the next man over can sink into Kessler’s legs and try to disrupt him as a lob threat.

Jamal 2-11 with 6 TO vs OKC tonight but Austin Reaves should be shot for averaging 21 and 7 vs OKC in the playoffs

Celebrating Yaxel’s podium game after being down 30 after three quarters is not what I was expecting from some of y'all.

Guarantee Yaxel earned Luka’s respect that half. Most guys respect you for not backing down.
