Update from OTW’s tumblr. Notice how there is ZERO mention re the “consent issue” of sharing downloaded fics— just advice as to the more secure methods *without condemning* private drives at all while ALSO encouraging folks to continue sharing fanworks while the archive is down.

As a writer it just confuses me that you can’t count “I loved your work so much that I downloaded it and I’m offering for others to be able to read it at a time when the archive is down and they wouldn’t be able to access it at all” as a form of appreciation and validation

Reporting to Google is a good way to get fanfic as a genre scrubbed from the internet. Way to go, you're shooting yourself in the foot. Fair use laws only go so far. Ao3 is that safe gray area. Drawing attention to it elsewhere is not gonna play in your (the author's) favor.

no shade but as an artist i think its insane to be against sharing via drive. it would be one thing if you earned revenue off ao3 and someone was trying to steal your income by reposting it and claiming it's theirs but THIS is something i cannot be sympathic about!!
