For those of you who are on the fence whether to follow me or not, here is a thread I'll pin, that will let you know who am I, what is my content like and introduce you to the last few years of my work, looking at what was there and what to expect in the future. 1/27
My X feed is telling me Landfall decks dominated Arena Champs 13.
Meanwhile in the real world - Jund Sac hit some crazy win rate levels.
My YT is growing pretty slowly. So slowly, in fact, that me most watched episode is still the one with Numot as a guest. That was 2023.
Until recently that is. Because the early data episode on FRA beat it. And not by a little bit. Just a testament of format popularity.
So, Hasbro again grew by a lot and most of it thanks to us.
You just need to replace GE with Hasbro, Sheinhardt Wig Company with WotC and NBC with Magic. Still thinking what AHP Chanagi Party Meats is in this analogy.
Today a part of game play content. Here is the board state I had in coaching recently. We are losing this game in the air, badly. But opponent is on 3 cards in library + 2 in hand and most of them (prolly 3) are lands.
Think what you do before scrolling.

And those win more games than you think - you just have to be not in autopilot mode. And those are tough to pull off on the spot. So looking through the spoiler and noting atypical potential interactions is a nice exercise.

And we use it in the PT preparation. For example - this is the kind of a document we used in MSH PT prep for Amsterdam. I think it could be more detailed than this even, but any amount of "dry practice" will quickly boost your win rates.

Arena has a ton of achievements for this set and I like my sidequests. Problem: loads of them are for cards I don't want to play in my draft decks. So thanks opponent for providing me with a board state that gave me the Arni power >10 achievement without having to play Arni.
We are going through every FRA card and try to catch the subtleties. Which cards are good in which color pair? And what does it tell us about this glorious format.

Among many amazing features of the lands / mana resource system, its natural capacity for purging the game of people who shouldn't be playing it is probably the best.
For me it’s pretty simple.
I quit mtg many times because i absolutely hated land non-games.
Does that mean i wanted to play magic with different rules? No. I just wanted to play a different game than magic.
Every game has their own flaw and lands for me are so archaic that i just can’t enjoy the game because of it.
I also think commander is the most boring 4 player game known to man.
But if you like lands - that’s great, i hope you will enjoy magic as long as you can.
But many people are acting like lands are superior to any other resource system - and that’s just silly.
Reminder: win rates on 17Lands are averages. So if Azorius has highest win rate, it means average WU deck is better than average other. Shortcutting it to WU > rest is a dangerous trend. It's easy to do so, but it's also incorrect. You play a deck, not an average of decks.

But the individual variance between WU decks' win rate is larger than the variance between color pair win rates. If you remember that and navigate your draft looking for most power, you will start winning more. Range of what you draft is a sign of a better limited player.
