Look, music obviously has huge emotional impacts on people. There are plenty of songs that make us cry, or miss people or places, or look back on What Could Have Been.
But I donβt think I will ever forgive the universe for making Africa by Toto one of those songs for me. π€¦πΎββοΈ

Iβve had a lot of trans people send me suicide notes, notes feeling they canβt go on, that it feels hopeless, in the last week.
Please please stick around.
We are going to build a better world and you need to be there to see it.

Amazing. Lizzo, in front of thousands of people, confronts LB574 - a gender affirming care ban and abortion ban - in Nebraska tonight.

A great thread on why AI companies have studios fooled into creating a work stoppage over something they not only have no clue about but also will eventually blow up in their faces after they try to pour a gazillion dollars into it then they'll fire more people and cry broke.

The "threat of AI to the profession of writing" is actually two completely different things that are being conflated by both the media and older, less tech-savvy writers. One is real and the other is fictional marketing hype.

If you have any doubt - ANY doubt - that television writers are being asked to work for such low pay in such precarious conditions that many can't afford to pay rent - read this thread.
My friend Aida says this far better than I could

Ok, but seriously though, Elizabeth Holmes is absolute trash. Read this thread every time youβre tempted to rehabilitate her based on nothing but her word. Or watch the documentary The Inventor.
I hate logging into this hellsite and seeing that an actor or public figure I like is trending... it generally means one of 3 things, and only 1 of those things is good. π€¦ββοΈ
I have many beloved queer and trans folx in Denver. Please loves, stay away from this bar and call them out for this horrifying action
So, to make a long story short, my middle child was attacked last night at a bar. By an employee. And it was about my child and their partner being #transgender. Please feel free to amplify this so many people ask these people to be held responsible.

The NYC Mayor has failed to condemn the murder, instead beefing with @AOC for correctly calling Jordan Neelyβs murder at the hands of Daniel Penny a murder.
Eric Adams spent 2021 sweeping unhoused people, a move which was condemned by human rights groups. commondreams.org/news/aoc-joβ¦
Absolutely FASCINATING discoveries of the life that is thriving in the great ocean garbage patches (and why clearing/destroying those patches is NOT the slam-dunk environmental win we might think).

I represent Rikers. I cannot tell you how many times Iβve heard from both COs and the incarcerated that there are people who commit petty crimes because their easiest way to get a bed and doctor.
For many vulnerable communities - especially the mentally ill - we make living in jail easier than living out of it.
Thatβs what happen when we defund everything but the carceral state
This was a FASCINATING deep dive into the last WGA strike. A lot of good and bad behavior from people I wouldnβt have expected it from, and a lot of VERY PREDICTABLE predatory bullshit from studios. Sending all my energy to the awesome folx on the picket line. πͺ
