About last night… 😮
Grateful, honoured and proud to have won Book of the Year 2023 for my book Energize in the Wellness & Wellbeing category at The @BizBookAwardUK last night.
It has been an absolute rollercoaster of a ride since publishing my book with @PenguinUKBooks.
And while there is more to come, it’s so important to pause along the way to reflect just how far we have come.
Onwards and upwards 🚀
🙏
Energize is one of those books that change your view on how you think about the little things but also on your ambition.
It shifts the thinking of constantly managing time as a resource to managing your energy as your ultimate resource for success. It also give practical tools to apply it.
It could change your career choices, your decisions on fundraising and how you manage a team.
I really enjoyed reading it @SimonAlexanderO!
Your greatest skill isn't the talent you were born with. It's your ability to stay consistent when everyone else is giving up.
Most people find it easy to show up when they're motivated. The challenge is being able to keep showing up on the days where motivation is absent.
Truth is: we underestimate how much of success is simply staying in the game long enough for small, daily efforts to compound.
It's how ordinary actions can create extarordinary outcomes. And it's why you must never underestimate the person who keeps showing up.
👏👏👏
"The only thing riskier than going for it, is never going for it at all." — Simon Alexander Ong @SimonAlexanderO
Imagine you're 90 years old. You've lived your life. You've seen how the story ends. But one morning, you wake up and realize you've been given a gift: you're suddenly the age you are today again, with all these years still ahead of you. How differently would you live?
Less: “I’ll believe it when I see it.”
More: “I’ll see it when I believe it.”
Less TV.
More reading.
Less distractions.
More focus.
Less negativity.
More positivity.
Less talk.
More execution.
Less self-doubt.
More self-belief.
No matter your age, there's a thought that always shows up:
“I wish I started earlier."
With your health, your dreams and the things you now realize actually matter.
But here's what most people overlook: you'll always feel late looking backwards and early looking forwards.
The person you'll be many years from now is going to look back at today and think:
“That was the perfect time to start."
Not because you had it all figured out but because you still had time. And today is the youngest you'll ever be.
So don't let the thought of "I should have started earlier" be the reason you don't start now.
Let it be the reason you finally do. Because one day, you'll either look back grateful that you began or wishing, once again, that you had.
The greatest rewards in life come from decisions that look irrational to others.
Choosing a path without guarantees and betting on something that only makes sense to you. From the outside, it can look reckless. From the inside, it feels necessary. Because something in you knows: there's a difference between living a life that looks right and one that feels right.
Everyone is talking about AI: how fast it's growing and how much it will replace. But…
… in an increasingly divided world, the more urgent conversation isn't about AI. It's about emotional intelligence.
Because the real crisis isn't that machines are learning to think. It's that we are forgetting how to be human.
We have more information than any generation before us and yet, we seem to have less patience and understanding for others.
AI may transform how we work, but emotional intelligence will determine how we live. And in a time when it's easier than ever to dehumanise, the most radical act is to choose kindness, empathy and compassion. To remember our common humanity.
There are no accidents in who we meet. Some people come into your life to challenge you, some to remind you of who you are and inspire you, some to help you heal and some to show you the kind of love you never believed was possible.
But reflect more deeply and you realize that it's rarely the big moments we miss the most. It's the small ones we didn't appreciate were special at the time. A conversation with someone no longer here. Holding your child's hand in yours when they were little. A laugh you didn't know would be the last of its kind.
One of the fastest ways to accelerate your career and take it to the next level is to spend more time in rooms where your dream life is someone's normal Tuesday. Because proximity expands possibility.
One of the most beautiful things about being alive is that some of your favourite days haven't happened yet.
There are conversations you haven't had that will change the way you see the world. Friendships you haven't made that will become some of the most meaningful relationships of your life. Places you haven't visited that will leave a permanent mark on your heart. And opportunities you can't yet see.
We worry so much about what might go wrong that we forget about what might go right.
Our minds are great at imagining worst-case scenarios, but life has a funny way of surprising us.
Truth is: none of us knows what is around the corner.
Uncertainty is not just the source of anxiety. It is also the source of possibility.
If someone is going to win today, it might as well be you.
If someone is going to hit their goals this week, it might as well be you.
If someone is going to crush their challenges this month, it might as well be you.
