Dorian Finney-Smith, a playoff-tested 3-and-D veteran shooting 40.1 percent from deep across six postseason runs, supplies the missing positional size on the wing and the instinct for help angles and weak-side tagging. Together they lengthen Atlanta’s defensive possessions, reduce the frequency of uncontested corner threes, and give Snyder the luxury of matching size or speed without breaking the scheme. Kingston Flemings, a consensus All-America Second Team and All-Big 12 First Team freshman who averaged 1.5 steals at Houston, brings the same on-ball pressure the staff already trusts from Daniels and Dort, only with a lower center of gravity and a steeper learning curve as a secondary creator. Zuby Ejiofor, Big East Player of the Year, Big East Defensive Player of the Year, and winner of the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award as college basketball’s top center, is the high-motor 6-7 piece with a 7-2 wingspan who can drop, switch, and recover in the same possession. Neither is being asked to start; both are being asked to keep the standard from dipping when the veterans sit. If last year’s post-break leap was proof of concept, this roster is the finished schematic: multiple elite perimeter stoppers, a versatile rim presence, and young athletes who already speak the same defensive language.
