5/15/30min ORBs, 6/20s, 15/30min pivots + VWAP reclaims off major daily/weekly pivots... thatโs basically my entire entry playbook.
Backtest each, figure out which ones actually fit your personality & beat them to death. You donโt need 10+ entry models. Keep it stupid simple.

You can understand the difficulty of the market we are in when we celebrate one day of strong moves in stocks... and when we change our long or short stance faster than our socks.

Your progression has a pathway of first recognizing what a strong stock looks like, to eventually understanding when both the stock and the environment are aligned for asymmetrical reward to be actionable.

The "PEAD" or "earnings surprise" investors who are selling stocks based QoQ declines or price action post earnings, will be learning some expensive lessons. So many examples in the last one month.
Buying an earnings surprise and selling one are completely different playbooks.
This difference only increases during a choppy market environment like this one.

The primary reasons for this are:
1. Most stocks with good results have rallied into the result over the last 3 months and hence need some breathing space to make the next leap.
2. Overall markets after a stupendous rally in last 3 months and has entered a chop/consolidation zone. The environment always impacts the result reaction.
3. Many retail investors misunderstand or half understand what an earnings surprise is and jump on anything that has high topline or bottom line growth without understanding the context. They are being killed.
All of this is very normal. In most cases one will see that if the results are genuinely good and overall markets stay stable - before next quarterly results such stocks will do what they need to do.
Most importantly, this is not a hit and run market. One needs to play according to the pitch.

PEAD is a well-documented stock market anomaly where a companyโs stock price continues to drift in the direction of an earnings surprise for days, weeks, or even months following its earnings announcement.
It's a well-documented anomaly in global markets but rarely studied deeply in India.

Proficient trading with longevity doesn't require changing your behavior. It may only require redirecting it.
1. Replace the urge to execute with the urge to cut losses (early).
2. Replace the reluctance to cut losses with the reluctance to execute.
The behavior stays the same, but the direction change. And it may produces the biggest improvement to your long term trading performance.
In this market period, trading can be particularly difficult as it requires exercising restraint instead of constantly taking action.
I always carry a small notebook to jot down insightful quotes or ideas from books or tweets that can benefit my trading and thought processes. This notebook has become a sort of diary and reference material to track when specific influences occurred during the market's timeline.
One quote that I came across and would like to share is: "It is natural for humans to want to play every hand. The desire to always be in the game is one of the speculator's greatest enemies in managing his money." This quote is especially relevant given the current market headwinds and challenges.
Let us truly contemplate and internalize the following quote: "Often, money that is just sitting can later be moved into the right situation at the right time."

Qullamaggie on Hard Periods in Swing Trading
โBut yeah, these periods happen a couple of times per year, so itโs just part of the game. You just have to man up and stay patient โ thatโs the only way. Because I know that the good times are gonna be back. I know that thereโs gonna be a period of a few weeks or a few months where Iโm gonna make at least a million dollars. I donโt know if itโs gonna be this year, but itโs definitely going to be somewhere next year, and I just have to wait for that time.โ
