ALT this is a really great example of taking very different styles of music and blending them tastefully. the influence of arabic instrumentation and tonality on the flutes working alongside the very western tonality of the piano and chorus is handled quite well. i also really liked the influence of the chorus on some of the percussion in this. it’s a very common thing in a lot of hip hop beats to have a single clap going on as a snare, but in this that same element is multiplied out in line with the vocal chorus, and it adds a nice touch of making the song feel a lot bigger and also more real and physical.

ALT got another banger for you. i don’t know how, i don’t know why, but we are so winning this year, it’s just that there’s so much good stuff out there, and here i am, giant net in hand, dragging it all in here for us to vibe out to. vibing out, btw, is exactly what i was doing to this song this evening. it was amazing, i literally raced from the end of work and climbed this big hill to see the lights of the city glitter in the dusk as the sun drifted down and the contrails of the jets drew sketches in the sky. it was lovely, i love the sunset and seeing things stay the same yet change utterly. the entire time i was boppin and drummin and feelin in my bones this song, it’ll be (video game song) by lauren juzang.

ALT i’ve got an absolute stormer of a song here for you. i actually think i wanted to feature it agesssss ago but for one reason or another i didn’t. i took a look through old issues and i couldn’t find if i’d featured it before, so if i have featured it before then i’m not sorry, it absolutely rules and you’re getting it again. enjoy girlkind by sinead o’brien, a 6 minute tour de force that makes me want to beat my chest and stomp my feet and it will for you too.
