🚨 WE MUST REJOIN THE EU TO MAKE EATING IN BRITAIN SAFER AGAIN. Brexit didn’t just put up trade barriers. It took Great Britain 🇬🇧 out of the EU’s integrated food-safety system and gave successive governments the freedom to deregulate, weaken border controls and open our market to food produced under standards we would not permit here. Now Britain is increasingly reliant on imported food while our own producers are squeezed out. And we are seeing the consequences of treating food regulation as red tape. One person has died and hundreds have been infected in a Salmonella outbreak that UKHSA says may be linked to imported eggs. The FSA says there is no evidence UK-produced eggs are affected. This demonstrates exactly why food standards, traceability, surveillance and effective border controls matter. Food deregulation isn’t freedom. When it goes wrong, people get sick and people can die. Britain needs to get back inside Europe’s food-safety architecture, restore frictionless trade with our largest and safest neighbouring market, and ultimately rejoin the EU. 🇬🇧🇪🇺 Food security includes food safety.
