Hi Clare, I'm a voter in Dublin Central. In 2015 we had a crisis when dubious online actors sought to undermine uptake in the HPV vaccine. For the following four years you asked questions on the safety of the vaccine. Each of them was answered in turn with facts and data but you persisted in asking the same questions, the answers only changing with larger data sets. I wrote to you in May 2019 as your repetitive questioning was being used online to support scare tactics against the vaccine. Given that the questions were being answered each time, and that you didn't challenge the answers, it appeared that your enquiry was in bad faith. I pointed this out in the letter and asked you to clarify publicly your stance particularly because of your being adopted as a figurehead and content source for those seeking to undermine uptake. You did not. I published the letter online to be sure you got it. You did not clarify the remarks. At the same time terminally ill Laura Brennan was campaigning to counter this misinformation, to help save all our daughters from the scourge of cervical cancer. The volume of data supporting the safety and efficacy has accrued rather exponentially since. Will you now answer my request to clarify your position on the HPV Vaccine scheme? Will you account for why you filled the Dáil record with the same "questions" at a time when the scheme was imperiled with these questions being used to fuel distrust?
