To all the brainwashed woke fools who latched onto this BS hook, line and sinker, you should be ashamed for helping to cancel the wonderful Native American influences we had in this country. You are the ones that turned out to be the racists while us supporters were the ones glorifying the culture!! While over 90% of the Native American people found the Redskins to signify honor and pride you decided you knew best. You should be ashamed!!
Great article by Kerry J. Byrne. Smithsonian Institution senior linguist Ives Goddard researched the origins of the REDSKINS name and concluded, in summary, that “the actual origin of the word is entirely benign.”
Goddard found that “redskin” did not originate in English or another European language. Rather, the English term derived from Native American expressions combining the color red with words for flesh, skin, and man.
Those who pushed the narrative that the name was inherently racist failed to do the historical research, and much of the media repeated that narrative without adequately examining the history.
The result? An important Native American figurehead and his legacy were canceled in the process.
The history deserves a second look. @Commanders

Whoever this guy is, share him around on the internet. This is the most based Redskins fan. Other fans out there who refuse support the Redskins can learn from this guy. He asked for their blessing and was approved. To everyone else, you're approved to wear the name and logo.

Shawn White Calf speaks on behalf of his family in support of restoring the Redskins brand. He even took time away from fighting fires to share this message.
For context, Shawn is the son of Delphine White Calf, a descendant of James White Calf Sr., the brother of John Two Guns White Calf.

Washington put Redskins merchandise back on sale.
It sold out online in under 48 hours.
Sean Taylor. Art Monk. Darrell Green. Old name. Old logo.
The Commanders say this is about trademarks and honoring franchise history — not bringing the name back.
Fine.
But markets are pretty good at measuring what people actually want.
The fans just voted with their wallets.

For everyone who still believes the REDSKINS name and logo were racist, I beg you to talk to the family of the man represented by that logo.
For years, the public has heard from mainstream media and Native American nonprofits that are not affiliated with his family, while his actual descendants were largely left out of the conversation.
Chief Two Guns White Calf was not a mascot. He was a real human being, a respected Blackfeet leader whose life was shaped by a painful chapter in American history following the 1870 Marias Massacre.
Listen to his family. Honor the history. Honor the Blackfeet people. And bring it all back, with the family at the table. 🪶
100 Years Ago Chief John Two Guns White Calf was on one of his many trips to Chicago where he was friends with the city’s mayor, Two Guns traveled to Washington D.C., New York City. Chief Two Guns White Calf & company was met with handshakes and was Honored in these cities. We can make this happen again.

This is the problem with the media. No one is even attempting to understand the history and rich heritage of Chief Two Guns White Calf, the man depicted in the logo, not a mascot. Instead, they lazily turn to activist organizations that claim to speak for Native Americans, while failing to meaningfully engage with the Blackfeet Tribe or the Chief’s descendants to understand the history and significance behind the name and image.
The history of the word REDSKINS is also far more nuanced than commonly portrayed. Linguistic research has documented Native Americans using the term in reference to themselves before it later acquired disparaging uses. While some derogatory uses emerged, Native people also continued using the term in positive contexts, including with pride and positive meaning. If the media wants to tell this story accurately, it should start by examining the full history and speaking with the Native family directly connected to the man behind the logo.
The resurgence of the Commanders' old name and logo meets quick resistance. nbcsports.com/nfl/profootbal…
I find alarming that some of the owners don’t even know the information and history fully around the logo. They don’t care.
I must address the comment from the Association on American Indian Affairs. REDSKINS and the logo was not the commercialization of Native Americans. It was the honoring of one man, Chief Two Guns White Calf. Yet did anyone at NBC Sports reach out to his descendants, whose trademark applications are now pending before the USPTO? No.
The statement, “We are not your mascot,” is disingenuous and ignores the history of this particular image. The logo depicted a man who traveled to Washington, D.C., to advocate for his people following the 1870 massacre of approximately 200 Blackfeet women, children, and elders by a U.S. military command #TheCommanders®.
Will news organizations finally speak with the family, or continue relying on activist organizations that do not represent the descendants or their understanding of the brand? If you truly want to get this history right, talk to the descendants.

Newest item added to Fanatics... see this I don't like. The other 3 shirts with the Redskins name and logo I posted yesterday had no Commanders logos on them. Putting the W logo on a Skins shirt... thats not a good look in my opinion.

They won’t. They’re retarted and actually think Cleveland Indians was less offensive than Redskins and Two Guns.
Several months after the descendants of Chief Two Guns White Calf filed applications for the long-abandoned marks, this is certainly an interesting development. 🤔
From here, I see two paths: these trademark issues are ultimately resolved through the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, or there is a path toward the full return of the historic name and marks with the White Calf family’s support.
I know which path I’d rather see. Bring everyone to the table and do this the right way.

Don’t forget the cowardly removal of two guns white calf they did… but now that they could lose the trademark of the Redskins to the tribe that gave their blessing for name & logo, they start making redskins gear again. Clowns. @Markein @kevinsheehanDC

Trademark law?! Months after the descendants of Chief Two Guns White Calf and I filed for the REDSKINS marks? 🤔
If there is truly no intention of ever bringing the name back, why start selling REDSKINS merchandise again now?
I sincerely hope the team isn’t gearing up for a fight before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. There is another path here. Do the right thing. Work with the Native American family whose ancestor inspired the iconic logo and who has applied to revitalize these marks, and bring the brand back in a way that honors its history and gives the family a meaningful voice in its future.
