Can anyone remember the last time @BBCNews interviewed a Palestinian about their experience of the racism of Zionism? Having spent the last two weeks interviewing elderly Nakba survivors in Jordan, driven off their land in their teens because of their ethnicity and religion, I'd be happy to suggest some astonishingly articulate victims of Israeli racism who would be only too happy to tell their tragic stories of eviction, slaughter and dispossession. It is like reporting on the Civil Rights movement in the US and only interviewing outraged Whites @bbclaurak @bbcnickrobinson @JustinOnWeb @BBCr4today
“[Saying] ‘Zionism is racism’ is offensive, it’s antisemitic and it’s dangerous” Broadcaster Jo Coburn says she “watched in horror” as the Green Party passed its motion on Zionism and criticises leader Zack Polanski's defence in his #BBCLauraK interview bbc.co.uk/news/live/c64gv8k2…

The dangerous & irresponsible blurring of challenging Israel & Antisemitism is deeply revealing. A Labour Government who apologised over their actions over Gaza is demonstrating that it was all performative. Andy Burnham still stands with Israel whilst it kills innocent people.

Greens could win 40 seats in next UK general election, research suggests - raising the prospect that they could hold the balance of power, force Labour to the left and veto some of its reactionary policies. Anyone who wants progressive change must now recognise the importance of maintaining the Green momentum—starting with electing @ZackPolanski in Holborn & St Pancras. theguardian.com/politics/202…

🚨 YOU CAN’T MAKE THIS UP 🚨 A prankster approaches Laila Cunningham pretending to hand over an envelope of cash from “Dimitri in Moscow”… and her reaction says it all. First question: “How much is it?” Then the body language — leaning in, ears open, hands gesturing toward the envelope, even peeking inside. Only saved by last-minute intervention from her Reform UK handlers telling her not to take it. Have these people learnt nothing from the cautionary tale of Nathan Gill? 🍿

Nothing screams ‘anti establishment’ like eating oysters whilst discussing a half a million quid donation that your advisors spent hours in Mayfair’s most exclusive clubs negotiating. These ‘men of the people’ are laughing at their supporters. It’s all a con and always was.

We need to talk about @BBCNewsnight. It seems the majority of last night's episode centred on the re-admission of Diane Abbott to the Labour Party, presented in a heavily-slanted and biased tone. The questioning and comments put words into Abbott's mouth and adopted the most negative interpretation of her version of events. Yet Newsnight has repeatedly refused to report on stories about abuse and misconduct towards Diane Abbott. In August last year I approached Newsnight with copies of messages exchanged on Labour's internal Party messaging system by Paul Ovenden in 2015. At the time I approached Newsnight, Ovenden was the Head of Strategy at Starmer's Number 10. Only a few months before, Starmer had delivered his racist "Islands of Strangers" speech after losing the Runcorn by-election to Reform. Abbott had also been recently re-suspended following comments she made on the BBC (that the BBC then clipped for socials devoid of key context, and again appeared to misrepresent last night). The messages I presented to Newsnight were damning of Ovenden. They show him making deeply unpleasant, offensive and sexualised jokes about Diane Abbott. Yet Newsnight refused to cover the messages. After I was told they had interested Newsnight, I was then told for weeks that they were embroiled in interminable editorial discussions. After six weeks I took the hint: the BBC, without saying it explicitly, weren't going to touch them. It was plainly in the public interest for them to be reported. Indeed, I took the same messages to the great @ShehabKhan at ITV and they leapt on them after I proved their legal provenance and authenticity. ITV's reporting led Ovenden to resign and helped expose the rot in Starmer's "boys club" that would help catalyse his downfall. There was simply no good reason for Newsnight not to report the Ovenden messages, not least because they had previously given extensive coverage to Abbott's suspension and the despicable comments made by Frank Hester. I believe that they chose not to do so because they didn't want to be seen to be attacking the government; or perhaps, it's because too many BBC people had had shared drinks with Ovenden (who had so be in Labour comms) over the years and thought he was a "lad" with protecting? It was because of this background that I was astonished by Newsnight's interview with Zack Polanski this week - another episode where Newsnight was aggressively tone-policing comments made by left-wing figures in odd terms. During a segment in which Polanski was asked to comment on a collaboration on Instagram, Nick Watts interrupted Polanski to read him rebuttal messages sent by an unnamed Reform source live on air. This was astonishing for all sorts of reasons. There was simply no good reason why the Reform (source) was unnamed. But I was genuinely amazed at how rapidly and without any seeming editorial discussion, Newsnight was airing texts in the moment when it sat for weeks twiddling it's thumbs over the Ovenden material. I've seen how the BBC exercises its editorial judgment, how cautious it's many diligent reporters are about due process, fact-checking and impartiality. Yet when it comes to Newsnight, it's all over the place. This past week has been further evidence that Newsnight is a pale shadow of what it once was.
"I understand if anybody might be concerned but Diane has been very clear and sincere in her apology." Bell Ribeiro-Addy MP on Diane Abbott's readmission to the Labour Party which, she says, "people hope... points to an end to some of the factionalism". #Newsnight

Andy Burnham says Labour got Gaza wrong. If you're sorry, prove it. 1. Call it a genocide. 2. End the arms sales. 3. Stop sharing military intelligence with Israel. The people of Gaza can't wait any longer.

Spain has closed its airspace to US planes involved in attacks on Iran. Meanwhile, the UK is letting US bombers land, refuel and re-arm. Complicity is always a choice — and our government has chosen to drag Britain into an illegal war.

Fuck Keir Starmer - A man who couldn't get us cancelled from Glasto - A man who couldn't beat us in court - A man who has destroyed the Labour Party - A man whose government supports war criminals in Israel with weapons and intelligence
The Prime Minister has slammed Irish rap trio Kneecap’s views as "completely intolerable" after the High Court found a member will not face a terror trial. Sir Keir Starmer said the CPS will be reviewing the judgment regarding Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh, who was accused of displaying a Hezbollah flag during a gig in 2024.

- @zackpolanski has presumably been up all night. He's done the rounds of breakfast shows this morning and not put a foot wrong. He's head and shoulders above any other national politician at this stage.
Zack Polanski's full interview on BBC News The morning Hannah Spencer won the Gorton and Denton by-election At the end Charlie Stayt asks, "Has Hannah Spencer had a chance to celebrate?" Zack Polanski, "We've just literally come from a party, I think she's still partying there now. I got dragged here. I'm very happy to be here. Dancing sounded a little bit more fun" *Naga Munchetty takes in a big breath*
