The pilot in the CNN OutFront clip is Aaron Murphy, a commercial pilot and flight instructor. He is sitting in a flight simulator recreating the Flydubai FZ1073 incident so viewers can see what the cockpit and the aircraft itself would have looked like during the sudden dive.@CNN
Murphy’s point at the end of the segment is that the dive was not just violent to sit through — it was close to structurally unsurvivable. In the simulator, the horizon drops away, the jet pitches steeply nose-down, and overspeed warnings start screaming as the aircraft accelerates through the plunge. His conclusion is blunt: a descent that steep and that fast would have torn the airplane apart.

1/ Yesterday’s Flydubai flight FZ1073, a 737 MAX from Dubai to Tel Aviv, was in cruise near 34,000 feet when it went into a steep nose-down dive. Tracking data show a drop on the order of 14,000 feet in about 30 seconds, with groundspeed rising toward 600 knots before the airplane recovered and diverted to Tabuk. That was not a normal descent. It was a plunge.
