Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Friday that he had ordered a major military operation in the occupied West Bank, telling troops to cordon off a large city in the territory and prepare to close off the entirety of the West Bank after a shooting attack by two Palestinian men that left two soldiers dead.
The Israeli military said its forces killed both gunmen following the shooting near a junction outside Hebron. Netanyahu's orders could also force Palestinian residents from their homes in the attackers' neighborhood as Israeli troops prepare to conduct house-to-house searches and demolish buildings in the area.
