Here's an idea.
If you see something you find interesting, or if you learn soemthing from someone.
Try to actually backtest it for yourself and see if it holds value, instead of just assuming it does.
Someone elses view isn't your own.
2 different people can have the exact same strategies. One person has a 40% wr, the other has a 70% wr. But they both use the exact same strategy.
Why do you think that is?
It comes down to experience, seeing the same thing over and over, and as you do you pick up on more things.
Value your time!
Just because you created something, doesn't make you the only one able to do so.
If you did create something, then awesome, very well done. But going around believing no one else can do the same is pure ignorance.
The people who made these discoveries decided to walk their own path and not follow the masses, which means more people can do the same.
Do not believe the ones who shout the loudest with their talk about no one else can do it, it's just their own ego rambling...
So you took a loss today?
Was it a good one or was it a bad one?
Do you react to the loss? Do you allow your reponse to that emotion rum rampant, or do you manage to control it?
It is the losers that define us, which is why having a very high wr can be dangerous. Because you're not used to handle them.
You need to lose enough, to be able to accept the loss, to be able to perform after!
Embrace the losers, treat them as teachers. You will learn a lot about yourself.
Become a profitable loser! (Not my quote but I like it)
I can assure you....
You don't backtest enough. You think you do, but you don't.
Trust me, it makes a world of difference. Only the ignorant will say it has less value.
If you tell me you don't value backtesting, you're also saying that you will struggle. They go hand in hand.
Relying on someone else to fix your own things for you will never work.
They can offer some guidance, wisdom etc. But the ball will always be in your court.
Thinking someone else will come with a golden crown is not the way to go about it.
YOU are your maker
YOU are your creator
YOU are your guidance
YOU are your light
Act like the one in control instead of letting life controlling you. The world opens up my friend, trust me!
Word of advice!
The loudest person in the room is rarely the smartest.
You know why the quiet man is feared? He analyzes everything. Everyone speaks before he does, so he is the only one who knows everything, without telling anything.
I wish more people could think before they speak. That thing you're trying to hide? It doesn't. You just believe it does... But sadly, most people aren't the quiet man...
I know this might sound weird.
But I don't use just one thing, I have 3 favourite setups that I use. All from knowledge I've learned from my journey.
After a while the entry itself becomes less important and the so called "flow state" takes over.
One change I've made however, is that I don't use the ticks anymore. At all...
Reason being = it just wasn't for me.
99% of the time I am on the 1 minute and the 1 minute only, a few times I jump down to the 5 or 15s but that's also rare.
The 1 minute is just so peaceful, it's not too fast and not too slow either. It's perfect for how I am as a person and my trading style.
When I first began I barely went below the 15 minute, I thought the 5 min was too fast, so you can imagine how fast I thought the 1 minute was🤣. But as time goes on, you grow into it.
And some models makes it easier to understand and use it as well.
But it is quite liberating not being "locked" to one trading thing/plan either. And it makes it easier to handle a variety of market conditions as well.
This suits me perfectly. And I would not have it any other way.
Yesterday I was at the grocery store, I then sat down in my car, opened the charts from my phone, I analyzed the markets for maybe 1-2 mins. I said "this looks amazing".
I took the trade, hit my tp in 2 minutes and I logged of.
THAT is the kind of freedom I've wanted ever since I started this journey. And I will ALWAYS be extremely proud of myself for coming this far.
As the famous quote goes "Learn the way, then find your own way" 💜
