I've seen a few artist's complain nobody is c0mmissioning them. Their prices are okay. Their art style is fantastic. Even their OCs garner attention. What's the matter? Uh oh, they're infamous for taking ages to get c0mms done! This is what happens, folks. If you take forever to finish an art piece, people are not gonna recommend you. They're not even gonna mention you once you complete your end of the bargain. Why? Because you were proven difficult to work with. Unless you're mutuals/friends, they're not gonna give you much leeway. I may not be Speedy Gonzalez when it comes to comms, but by golly I will be honest with my clients and say "no, I haven't started at all." People like it when their c0mm gets completed early. If they want to request a change, if the artist allows it, then they'll be more than happy to wait a little more. It's business, folks. We have an obligation to get the paid art done. We want to look good for clients. If they are satisfied, they speak good things about us. Good words mean more customers. Customers that heard you provide good service.

My relationship with commissions is odd because I'm willing to wait a *long* time for commissions to be done. I once waited TWO YEARS and eventually DID get the commission. People are very busy and I dated an artist for 7 years so I know how grueling art can be sometimes! HOWEVER
