As a Councilman, I passed Right to Counsel legislation in Jersey City to ensure tenants have access to legal representation and a fair chance to remain in their homes. I’m proud of this legislation and our partners who work to protect tenants and keep residents in their homes.

Today we broke ground on Canal crossing bringing over 100 deeply affordable units to the South Side some with rents less than $1,000 a month. Development must serve ALL our residents, strengthen our neighborhoods and keep Jersey City residents in the city they call home.

In Jersey City, @SolomonforJC was tying corruption to affordability early in 2025 for mayor’s race.
New: The consensus among Democrats' strategic brain trust is the issues of affordability and corruption should be tied together. That's good news for the party's progressive wing on economics — because it fits with the rhetoric and policy ideas they've long preferred.

Last week, we opened the new and improved Monticello Storms Park. These improvements-basketball courts, workout equipment, trees, and more- increase the quality of life on Monticello. I am proud to deliver this space for our community AND have our kids show me up on the court.

Jersey City, I heard your concerns about the five-year closure of the Broadway Exit and took action. On my first call with NJ Transportation Commissioner Jain, I asked her to partner with us to reopen it to reduce traffic impacts on neighborhood streets.

When corporations pay their fair share, we can put more money into our classrooms while reducing the burden on Jersey City homeowners and renters.

For the first time since the payroll tax took effect, Jersey City has reached an agreement with the State that will give us the employer data needed to audit filings — helping us identify corporations that aren’t paying or are underpaying what they owe.

The results: 📷over $75m collected for Jersey City Public Schools 📷 2,251 corporations newly registered this year including hundreds of construction contractors — many based outside the city. And we’re not stopping there.

October marks Domestic Violence Awareness month. Mayor Solomon strengthened the city’s response to domestic violence by creating a dedicated domestic violence unit within JCPD. This unit takes a victim centered approach to protect survivors and expand access to resources.
