First hands on ultrasound session of 4 years of ultrasound curriculum! Hands held ultrasounds for every student and 3:1 student to instructors ratios mean tons of learning for all! @UofUMedicine students are crushing ultrasound!

32% symptomatic pos. rate, very concerning! (From 4%) 4 pediatric Covid inpatients yesterday. Age…a few weeks old to 18 y/o
If you are making wildly disparaging comments about the vaccine, and have no public health expertise, you may be responsible for someone’s death. Shut up.

A 17-part thread on independent practices legislative fights and the distractions they represent.
First, I am troubled that we continue to have these policy fights. They are a waste of time, but more importantly they are a distraction.

@VTEMSONO on lung US: ultrasound is much more sensitive than XR! XR missing PNA ~ 1/3 of the time 😬
@UltrasoundJelly AAA Pro Tip: In a pinch try looking laterally. Start in RUQ & follow down. Not as sensitive, but still specific if you see the AAA.
@UltrasoundJelly AAA Pro Tip: pressure for 30s to push bowel away. Curvilinear probe distributes pressure better. Use it!
@UltrasoundJelly Pro Tip: If your hydro looks like broccoli, it’s mild.
@UltrasoundJelly Pro tip: prominent renal hilum looks like mild hydro. Use color flow to distinguish. Hydro = no flow.
@UltrasoundJelly Pro tip: Dehydration makes hydronephrosis harder to find. Hydrate pt to increase sensitivity!
@UltrasoundJelly starting off #Bendfest19 strong. Great tips coming up!
