So I have a question Tim.
If you're having an AI code for Unreal Engine what's stopping devs from just using AI to code their own game engine and cut the middle man? Why use your engine and pay you when they can make their own for free?
Or is it only theft when it effects you?
Let bakers fart on bread! Forcing them to disclose whether they farted on bread is cruel!

Forcing developers to write a political statement to be used against them by the hate mob they’re helping organize is abhorrent.

If Unreal is vibecoded, then no point in using & pay roaylities to Epic. Just ask AI to generate you an entire new Engine (youtube prove it kinda works), and don't forget to ask Claude to "inspire" from UE5. This way you've your own free Unreal-like!

Tim Sweeney getting upset at Steam's AI disclosure is an endless stream of funny content.
He claims it's bad for developers, but what he actually means is it's bad for Epic Games. Because Epic are literally building UE6 around generative AI, which they say will play a "central role"
If generative AI is good, and developers are proud to use it, there shouldn't be an issue disclosing it. But the problem is gamers don't agree, and some actively avoid games using AI. This in turn will mean avoiding UE6 games using their fancy gen AI integrations, which hurts Epic's business model.
It's another one of those things where companies are not on the same page as gamers. Gamers want engine developers to solve problems they are having (eg poor performance, traversal stutter, visual artefacts). They don't want those problems to remain unsolved while Epic makes it easier to fill storefronts with low quality AI-made games.
Transparency is always good for consumers and shouldn't be sacrificed. Ever. Why hide the use of a feature if you think the feature is good?
If it's a "hate mob" issue, maybe time to reassess the messaging. Prove that AI use is good, instead of hiding it. Because if it's actually good, it should be easy to explain and show why. The work speaks for itself with these things.
If Epic are ever wondering why gamers love Steam and avoided the Epic Games Store for so long, it's because Valve continue to deliver what gamers want. Being hostile to gamers doesn't work.
Not my games.

Stop playing any game. Any. They all have AI involved in their creation from about 3 years. You're welcome.

Developers who are getting value from AI should speak up. There's safety in numbers. MOST developers are doing it and loving it - and if they're not talking about it it's mostly out of fear for haters attacking them, their product, and their company.
Now I'm sure they cancelled Pepsiman 2!
I thought some of you might have a few questions, so I've put together a little Q&A.
Q: Wait, so Uchi isn't with Too Kyo Games anymore?
A: I'm still part of Too Kyo Games, thanks to the kindness of its members. It's a bit like branching out on my own while staying connected to the Too Kyo family. I guess... I just wanted to build something under my own banner, so I decided to start an independent company.
Q: So, you and Kodaka didn't have a falling-out?
A: I may have fallen in love with him, but we'd never have a falling-out. We're still so close that we even have pajama parties at each other's houses, sipping strawberry milk boba together...
Q: What was the game that got canceled?
A: I'm really sorry, but I can't reveal that here... I'll let you use your imagination, but if Uchi fans had heard the title, they might have danced like crazy with nosebleeds for three days and three nights straight.
Q: Why was the game canceled?
A: I apologize, but I can't go into the details of that either. But on a more serious note, I think it's fair to say that major changes in the game development landscape may have played a part. And what brought about those changes? Needless to say... AI (artificial intelligence).
Advances in AI have made it possible for people to create games at a much lower cost. To stay competitive, mid-sized game developers like us need to find ways to cut costs. However, these days, using AI to make games is generally frowned upon, isn't it...? Unfortunately, under these circumstances, we're fighting a losing battle.
It's often assumed that using AI could cause creators to lose their jobs. But the opposite can also be true. In other words, "not using AI" could also cause creators to lose their jobs. If using AI had been an option, perhaps the project wouldn't have been canceled. Of course, humans would have handled all the creative work, leaving only the tedious tasks to AI. That way, we might have been able to cut development time, not staff.
Oh, and just to be clear, that doesn't mean the budget was the direct cause of the cancellation. I'm just saying that if we'd been able to cut costs further, things might have turned out differently.
Q: There are still so many things I'd like to ask...
A: Hopefully, I'll get another chance to talk about them. I'm always happy to make myself available for interviews with the press. If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out through the "CONTACT" form on our official website: crashkeys.com/
P.S. To all the fans out there: Thank you so much for all your lovely messages! I've received an overwhelming number of them, and I'm going to read every single one! I sincerely appreciate all your kindness!
One of my favourite game creators of all time is looking for a publisher.
Made 999, Danganronpa and worked on Pepsiman. Now his current project has been cancelled so tell your favourite publisher about it!
Hi everyone, how's it going? Honestly, I'm not doing well at all... Why, you ask...? Because the game our whole team had poured our hearts and souls into for about a year and a half was suddenly canceled...!! I mean, I lost my job overnight. Talk about a bolt from the blue...
So I decided to make an announcement now. To see if anyone might be interested in working with us or investing in our projects. And here's the announcement.
Actually, I started a company back in March of last year. It's a game studio specializing in video game design, direction, and narrative writing. (And... just between us, it's also a secret organization dedicated to protecting world peace.)
The name is... "CRASH KEYS"!!
crashkeys.com/
My original plan was to reveal CRASH KEYS when we announced our new game. That was supposed to happen next year... in 2027. But then came that whole "bolt from the blue" incident... So I ended up having to move things up and go public with it today instead.
With that in mind, I would like to humbly ask you all for a favor... Please give us some work!! At this rate, our company might literally CRASH into a million pieces. My team and I may be forced to survive on nothing but cicada shells collected from a run-down park. So please, help us!! You're our only hope!!
For work requests, investment proposals, words of encouragement, or invitations to Law of Attraction seminars, we would be very grateful if you could contact us using the "CONTACT" form on our official website: crashkeys.com/
Any support you could offer would mean the world to us. We sincerely look forward to hearing from you!
