More intensive blood pressure lowering reduces cardiovascular events in CKD - without increasing kidney failure.
Meta-analysis of 27 trials (88,830 participants):
❤️ 15% lower CV event risk per 10 mmHg lower SBP
🫀 Larger absolute benefit in CKD
🧪 No increase in kidney failure
⚠️ More sustained 30–40% eGFR declines
Early eGFR falls should not automatically be interpreted as kidney harm when BP lowering is delivering cardiovascular benefit.
