If Lamine Yamal had to compete with Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Ronaldinho, Eto’o, Thierry Henry, Dani Alves and the rest of that Barcelona squad, I doubt he would have even made his debut at that age. Let’s be honest, he got his opportunity because Barcelona were short of options and had no one else on the bench. Messi carried a very average Argentina side to back-to-back World Cup finals, while Yamal has only managed one goal against “Saudi Arabia” Put Yamal in the Barcelona team Messi debuted in, surrounded by that level of talent and competition, and I don’t think he would even get the chance to establish himself.
