The Springfield Echelon Pro just took my carry gun’s spot. And that is funny, because the last time Springfield ported the Echelon, I said I was probably going to switch from my regular Echelon Compact. Probably. Then I never did. The reason was the porting. It was louder. And when you think about shooting from retention, with the gun tucked in close, you can feel the concussion coming off those ports. That was enough to keep me on the regular Echelon. But then Springfield dropped the Echelon Pro. And this is not just the same gun with ports. This is the Echelon maxed out. More aggressive grip texture. Gray slide. Black lower. Porting. Better look. Two grip options. And that little flared magwell that completely changes how the compact feels in the hand. The regular Echelon already felt like a custom gun disguised as a production gun.
