Took the leap out of academia this week and started a new role as a Data Scientist. Happy to talk about my experience to any others who are considering a similar academia-industry switch!
So excited for this!
Ever wanted to listen to outer space? 👂🌌 Astronomer Dr Chris Harrison is giving us the opportunity to do exactly that.
#SciBar: The Cosmic Symphony.

WE'RE BACK!!!!
#SciBar is back! Join us on Wednesday, 23rd February at The Magic Hat Cafe in Newcastle for ✨ Magic Maths ✨ with Dr David Cushing. Be amazed by the magical power of mathematics! 🎩palaceofscience.co.uk/scibar…
New preprint just posted with @C_Pattie1 @HSlater7 @UlrikBeierholm and @MarkoNardini - Newly learned shape-colour associations show signatures of reliability-weighted averaging without forced fusion or a memory colour effect psyarxiv.com/9e7cf/
TONIGHT! Launch event of an art exhibit where those with normal colour perception can experience what it's like to be colour blind. Talks from @C_Pattie1, Jon Bradley, and Marie Difolco from @colourblindorg. Talks streamed live on Twitch @PalaceOfScience. Exhibit open all week!
4 yrs and 300 hrs of data collection later... FINALLY my 1st experimental paper with @UlrikBeierholm and @MarkoNardini showing that novel cues are consistently combined with familiar cues but not always each other is a pre-print!🥳psyarxiv.com/5hpqa
It’s an honour to be highlighted by @Durham_BSI for #NPAW2021. Thanks @MarkoNardini for nominating me! Doing it for the postdocs 💪
Replying to @Durham_BSI
Next up @StaceyAston @DurhamPsych (& co-founder of @PalaceOfScience) who works with @MarkoNardini. Her work seeks to understand how the human brain combines sensory information. To find out more about her recent work visit link.springer.com/article/10… #NPAW2021 #ECR 👀👏

Had the opportunity to write an overview of what I've been up to these last ~15 years to go with a keynote for @ICSCRome #ICSC2021 coming up Sep 13th: doi.org/10.1007/s10339-021-0…
- thanks to the organisers. This year online and not in Rome (alas), though easier than ever to get to!
Tomorrow evening, 7:30pm, live on Twitch! 🖥 🧠 twitch.tv/palaceofscience @PalaceOfScience #scienceoutreach

A Post-Doc and PhD position will be available in my lab @DurhamPsych (UK) from October 2021. They are funded by the @LeverhulmeTrust to conduct EEG research on memory-guided visual attention. Adverts will come soon but email me for informal inquiries ([email protected])
New paper with @wren5x, @MarkoNardini, and @UlrikBeierholm detailing how to account for central biases when estimating precision in continuous response data is out now 😁 link.springer.com/article/10…
Calling all students and postdocs at #VSS2021 - have you found the donkey yet? Can you guess where it might be...
#VSS2021 Student-postdoc meet-up led by the student-postdoc committee happening now in the Courtyard. Find us on the bottom right table and come say hi! #GatherTown bit.ly/3bGPj0X.
It's poster day at #VSS2021. I'll be by my poster (B51- Manatee) for the next 2 hours. Come say hi :D
Check out my #VSS2021 poster with @MarkoNardini and @UlrikBeierholm: "Failure to account for extrinsic noise when integrating visual cues and prior information". Watch the short video on the #VSS2021 website and stop by during my poster sesh with Qs (8-10am EDT/1-3pm GMT 23/05)
Student-Postdoc Networking event happening in the Gator room of Gather.town now for the next 30 mins! #VSS2021 bit.ly/3bGPj0X

Wow, that was an enlightening conversation on how open science can (and cannot!) address the current reproducibility crisis. Open science does not necessarily mean great science, but we can agree there are some universal benefits. #VSS2021
Hey my dear fellow #VSS2021 lovelies, in an hour I'll be moderating "Conversations on Open Science" (organized by the Student-Postdoc Committee), with @ceptional, @GKAguirre, Chris Donkin, @russpoldrack and Janine Bijsterbosch (@PersonomicsLab)

New preprint with @wren5x, @MarkoNardini, and @UlrikBeierholm introducing a method for analysing continuous responses in cue combination tasks to account for central tendency biases. If not accounted for, cue combination (increased precision with multiple cues) can be missed.
