I never cease to be disappointed by people who fail to understand the power of propaganda and the manufacturing of consent.
Nobody - certainly not the establishment and their media - gave a rat's behind about the Green Party until it became a visible force for change under Zack's leadership. Then the weight of the mainstream billionaire-owned media was rained down on him personally, and the party as a whole. Gorton and Denton was the alarm bell that set the establishment scurrying.
There are two things you can do at this juncture, Rupert:
1) Give in to the pressure, throw in the towel, and hanker after the days of being that quaint little party that everyone tolerated because it would never have any power, and was no threat to anyone or anything; or
2) Fight back.
You choose.
But if you choose the former, please have the decency to take a step back, and let those of us who want to do the latter get on with the job of creating a safe planet for everyone.
Thank you.

Why is Zionism the only ideology that no one is allowed to critic
You’re lack of understanding of what democracy means is terrifying
But then you are a politician in a party that has criminalised dissent

🧵1/2: Labour is playing politics with peoples lives.
Greens have always gritted our teeth and worked across party lines to protect local services. When Labour armed Israel, when they backed warmongers in Riyadh, we put aside national politics and worked for local people.

This week in London, another event will promote an Israeli agency involved in building illegal settlements on occupied land.
In September the Government rightly announced plans to ban advertising of illegal Israeli settlements.
This event should be the first where it's stopped.

Labour are trying to bully everyone into defending Genocide.
They made a phony apology, continue to sell arms licences to Israel and whip their MPs to defend it at all costs.
We will not cower. We will not be bullied from speaking the truth.

Rachel Millward reacts to Labour's decision to undermine local democracy.

ALT "Labour holds no moral high ground on the issue of Israel and Palestine after materially supporting a genocide for three years. It is utterly irresponsible to conflate criticism of the actions of the state of Israel with antisemitism. Many Jewish people strongly reject the illegal actions of the current Israeli government. Palestinian freedom and Jewish safety are not competing principles and must not be treated as if they are. We are disappointed that Labour have chosen to undermine their councillors’ work for our communities." Israeli attacks have damaged over 22 percent of Lebanon's agricultural land
——
According to an interview given to Anadolu Agency by Lebanese Agriculture Minister Nizar Hani, Israeli attacks have directly affected approximately 56,000 hectares of farmland, representing 22.5 percent of Lebanon’s total agricultural land.
The minister revealed that 52,000 hectares of the damaged land lie across the south, while an additional 4,000 hectares were devastated in the eastern Baalbek-Hermel governorate. Beyond crop destruction, Hani reported catastrophic impacts on livestock, noting that the country lost over 30,000 beehives and roughly 70 percent of its livestock across southern Lebanon due to persistent shelling and bombings.
Hani condemned Tel Aviv's deliberate use of banned chemical agents, confirming that "Israel used white phosphorus during the war and sprayed areas near the border, particularly forested land, with glyphosate herbicide."
The minister explained that while winter rainfall initially reduced chemical concentration levels in soil and water, renewed Israeli bombardments and ongoing ground occupation have blocked specialized Ministry teams from accessing border zone farmlands to conduct necessary environmental hazard assessments and soil testing.
The destruction of 24,000 hectares of olive groves and the bulldozing of farmland have further crippled southern production, which historically accounts for 70 percent of Lebanon's citrus output and 90 percent of its banana crops.
Despite severe supply chain shocks, Hani stressed that agricultural production continues to account for 9 percent of Lebanon's GDP—rising to 13 percent with food processing industries included—aided by strong trade ties with regional partners.

Balfour was a white suprematist and an antisemite who passed the Aliens Act of 1905 that prevented Jewish people fleeing pogroms in Eastern Europe from
seeking refuge in Britain.
Instead he sent them to Palestine.
The rest is history.

“Britain bears massive historical responsibility for the situation of the Palestinian people. In 1917, after the Balfour Declaration, it enabled the settler colonial movement of Zionism to begin a project of state building in Palestine.”
On the 109th anniversary of the Balfour Declaration, revisit this analysis by Ilan Pappé from the Declassified archive.

On this day, November 2, 1917, the Balfour Declaration was issued—a promise by a power that did not own the land, offering it to those who had no right to claim it, at the expense of a people who lived on that land, cultivated it, and built their dreams and future upon it.
109 years have passed, and Palestinians are still paying the price of that promise—with their land, their homes, their memories, and their children. Palestine continues to bear the wounds of history, from the Nakba to wars and forced displacement, all the way to the displacement tents of Gaza.
The Balfour Declaration was not merely a political letter. It was a pivotal moment in the tragedy of a people denied their right to self-determination.
We tell this history not to imprison the present in the past, but to understand how we got here, and why the Palestinian right to justice is still awaiting recognition.
Palestine is not a promise written in a letter. Palestine is a people, a land, an identity, and a right that does not expire with time.
