.@StarbeamOne Daily Status* Current Story: v2 Preview Environment Testing Notes: After some "time off" (aka the weekend 😏) I will resume work on the finishing touches for the v2 deployment slated for this Friday, October 30th. First, I'll focus on a blog announcement. What? Yes, we still have a blog, and no, I haven't updated it in a long time. Part of the reason was a really bad OneDrive bug that started in 2024 and prevented shared folders from being available, which is where my blog scripts were located. Sure, I probably could have copied them locally and still run them there, but with the stressful v2 rewrite underway and all the (financial) stuff happening at the time, I said nope and would get to it some other time. Well, two years later and I still haven't done that. Besides, we have X/Facebook (*cough*) and other channels now where I do my daily updates. A version release, particularly one that has taken 2.5+ years for one reason or another, deserves special attention, so I will try to address it this week, starting today as I brush the dust off those scripts. Beyond that, there is still documentation, and while I will start it this week, I don't think I'll finish it; there's a lot to cover. It's not critical, though, since we're not currently promoting/onboarding. .@StarbeamOne Daily Status* Current Story: v2 Preview Environment Testing Notes: It's been a long time since I was here, and I am not complaining. I actually spent the weekend ... not working like a normal person? 😅 Yeah, that was great. I caught up on personal errands that have piled up for the past month. Before that, however, I spent yesterday cleaning up some identified issues in Preview. At one point, there was concern that I missed a field altogether in the migrator when full descriptions weren't showing in products, but nope, that's how it was in v1. In v2, we copy the data wholesale, so I had to run a script to reflect that consistently. Other issues came up, all resolved without much effort. A few users are checking out the system and producing products; no errors, and everything is running as it should. I can't tell you how amazing it is to wake up to activity generated without any errors reported. This week, the plan is to take it easy and work on documentation. I also have a blog post to outline the general scope of changes for v2, which are myriad; it's 2.5 years of full-time/part-time effort. It's basically that, plus watching for any errors that come up during this time. .@StarbeamOne Daily Status* Current Story: v2 Preview Environment Testing Notes: Another positive day yesterday. This seems to be happening more often, and I hope it continues. 🙏 I was able to get a full deployment to our v2 Preview environment and fix identified issues. All scenarios passed, and I am feeling good about the quality of this release. It's been a while since I've been here, and I'm enjoying every second of it. I like to say software is 99% grief to get to that 1% bliss, and that bliss is where I am right now. Rare but gladly accepted. I sent more personal invitations yesterday afternoon, and I'll send a few more this morning. Then I'll make a general availability announcement later today. The goal is to test this next week, and then on Friday, October 30th, 2026, I'll finally flip the switch to v2. .@StarbeamOne Daily Status* Current Story: v2 Preview Environment Testing Notes: Yesterday was a bit of a struggle, as I tried another full deployment to the Preview environment with all the latest fixes from the past week. For one reason or another, I kept running into issues that broke the process partway through (or worse). I managed to iron those out and finally deploy, and after some testing, it looks really good. Accounting is balanced now, and we're officially making the revenue we're supposed to make when transactions occur. I am going to do another pass this morning, and if all goes well (it seems like it should, it's looking good), I'll announce general availability for the Preview environment later today.
