We urge David Lammy to immediately authorise a senior official to meet with the legal representatives of Heba Muraisi and Kamran Ahmed - both on prolonged hunger strike and at extreme risk of death. Their representatives have repeatedly requested this meeting and it is now critical to prevent a tragedy. Amnesty International has long opposed the misuse of terrorism powers that has led to lengthy, oppressive, and disproportionate detention conditions, contributing directly to this crisis. Action is needed now to: ✅ Guarantee communication with legal representatives ✅ Ensure proper family contact ✅ Provide urgent and appropriate medical care This situation is drastic and urgent. #HumanRights #ActNow #EndMisuseOfTerrorismPowers

Replying to @BBCNews
Doesn't AT ALL sound like liberation was never the plan, just theft and domination by another bully embodying American Imperialism... Not. At. All.

Violence across Darfur and Kordofan in Sudan is escalating fast. Thousands are fleeing—others are trapped in danger. We can’t afford to look away.

When left wing people say it is right wing it is because the director was a conservative and constantly platforms Reform but rarely left wing politicians. When right wing people say it is left wing it is because there are mixed race families in shows

HOPE not hate condemn the appalling, violent attack at a synagogue in Manchester which has taken place on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. Our thoughts are with the Jewish community and all affected.

We will be mobilising in defence of Black and Asian communities in Brentry and everywhere else they are targeted. We will not let these racists terrorise our people. Enough is enough.
Our political and media class have emboldened these violent racists

"Not since the 1980s have the streets, the community and civil society been so important in building up frontline defence. The response to the far - right is internationalism and intersectional solidarity" ✊🏾
🚨Another summer of far right discontent - time to take stock. Some photos courtesy of Steve Eason.

The violence last summer was preventable. The violence in Ballymena was preventable. The violence in Epping was preventable. How much more violence do we have to see before Government stops inflaming racist rhetoric and steps up to safeguard people in hotels?

A group of Black students went to the @young_vam and were racially profiled and followed around by security like they were a bunch of criminals. Black young people aren't safe in our most prestigious public spaces. Sign this petition demanding an apology. chng.it/VLbj7VHDMW

Israeli officials made countless genocidal statements to burn, erase and annihilate Gaza, and then did just that. And not a whisper from the same people now supposedly outraged by Bob Vylan’s comments. Me on LBC last night.

It is a human duty to confront genocide. Silence is not neutrality—it’s surrender. Only the cowardly and complicit look away. History won’t forget who stood by—and who stood up. #Gaza #Genocide #NeverAgainIsNow

Charles Dickens, 1857: "I wish I were Commander in Chief in India. The first thing I would do to strike that Oriental race…that I should do my utmost to exterminate the Race…to blot it out of mankind and raze it off the face of the Earth." This is how the Empire ALWAYS thinks!
Its not collective punishment or genocide, its aggressive counter terrorism. Apparently.

Excited to be leading on our new decolonising health module. We have an amazing team of contributors including campaigning groups, indigenous community leaders and academics from across the world. The module can be taken with medical school MSc courses or as a stand alone.
Our new module, 'Decolonising Health: Reimagining Health Equity’, is at the cutting edge of #GlobalHealth #Education. It "goes beyond academic study; it's about equipping students with the tools to change health knowledge and practices." Learn more here: bsms.ac.uk/about/news/2024/0…

Calm, respectful, civil. All words that immediately come to mind where the state of Israel is concerned at the moment. There really is a special place in hell for people like this. In the meantime, these protesting students really are calm, respectful, and civil.
