DYK? Black women experience a substantially wider pay gap due to the compounded effect of racism and sexism. 7.9.24 is Black Women’s Equal Pay Day— the day they must work until to earn the same pay as a non-Hispanic white man earned the previous year.

Three gunmen in a car open fire on eight high school students waiting at a school bus stop in Philadelphia and somehow this is not worthy of wall-to-wall national news coverage?
Two students are in critical condition; one student was shot nine times.

Donald Trump is trying to rewrite history when he glorifies the Jan 6 attack. We are eyewitnesses to what happened & it was an attack on police, the rule of law & Congress. The GOP must reject Trump’s glorification of those tragic hours. You can’t change the truth. #FITN

Little Rock and Arkansas’s own @pharoahsanders1 played a role in influencing Andre 3000’s ‘New Blue Sun’ album! Thank you @ArkansasNOIRE for enlightening us.
DYK? Andre 3000's 'New Blue Sun' was inspired in part by legendary Little Rock-born jazz saxophonist Pharoah Sanders. The album's first track had the studio working title of "Beyond the Pharaohs" as a nod to Sanders' extraordinary musicianship. #NOIRE #OurNewsOurCultureOurTime

A truly powerful moment in my journey was getting to meet Ms. Viola Fletcher, radiant at 109, the oldest living survivor of the Tulsa Race Massacre. As we held each other's books, I felt the power and gravity of the moment: They want to hide a history that we are still living.

I can’t imagine Jesus putting razor blades in the water to harm immigrants.
Or advocating for economic policies that favor the rich and harm the poor.
Or doing nothing substantive to end gun violence.
It’s heartbreaking that many can imagine Jesus doing these things.

This is literally the plot of a Black Mirror episode. And I'm using "literally" in the strict sense; the episode title is "Joan Is Awful."

Wade Goodwyn was a legendary NPR reporter.
When it came to writing and delivery, he had no equal.
Every time a Wade story came on, no matter the topic, you had to listen.
I'll really miss him on the radio.

When our Christianity begins to look like vengeance, animosity, and hostility towards the world, rather than love, humility, and compassion, that is when we know we are following someone other than Jesus.

A Christianity centered on love for others sounds like: “I want our nation to prioritize the needs of the poor, the marginalized, and most vulnerable people.”
A Christianity centered on itself sounds like: “I want our nation to prioritize Christians.”

There’s no shortage of people willing to throw shade anonymously and seemingly no shortage of publications willing to write it up and recycle beltway gossip. Those still questioning the VP’s role and impact are choosing not to see what is right in front of them.

It's depressing how much of our national life is spent arguing over whether we truly need to treat all people with dignity and respect.
stephanie jackson retweeted
The effect of this would be to establish in people's intuitions a more enduring and truthful understanding of the root social determinants of safety. The constant implicit connection between police and safety is one of the most anti-science and pernicious aspects of copaganda.

A simple thing more consistent with evidence would be if news outlets changed the stock photo for crime stories away from flashing police lights to graphs showing local poverty rates, effects of lead poison, divestment from housing and schools, and lack of access to medical care.
