I grew up going to Japanese school, and studied in HS/college to feel closer to my culture. I’ve hardly spoken since, though, so it’s very broken. But for Shohei’s special night, I wanted him and 🇯🇵 media to feel welcomed/seen. Def wasn’t perfect😬but I’ll keep shaking rust off!

Congratulations to Shohei Ohtani on another incredible accolade! Shohei is just the 16th recipient of the Commissioner’s Historic Achievement Award since its inception in 1998.

Posts during WBC/LIDOM/Winter Leagues: “Need this energy all the time! The emotion! Epic! Posts during the MLB season/postseason: “look at how slow he ran the bases can you believe this guy?!”
Foul Territory

Junior Caminero took 38.66 seconds to round the bases. Second-slowest time in the Statcast era on an undisputed homer/uninterrupted trot, per @SlangsOnSports. (Via: @MLB)

To the friends and teammates who drove this show from behind the camera 16 years—I’m so sorry. And thank you. So many hard-working and CREATIVE people, with Uncle Kevin and Rosie’s energy and chemistry, built something significant. Forever honored to be part of I.T.’s history.

Seeing Marina Viking Jake Bauers win NLCS MVP, and knowing Chapman Panther @JLevering4 will call a World Series. Congrats to JB & Levo! Two absolute studs 🤙💙

My sister grew up with Jake & his amazing wife, Lauren. The Bauers/Carr families are salt of the earth. … Levo is Chaptown’s broadcast North Star—he’s the standard. From calling RC Quakes games in ‘09 to calling a pennant in ‘26 Outstanding people & journeys. Deserve all the 💐

The Brewers are a wagon. If it's not one guy executing for Milwaukee, it's the next. Conversely, if it's not one guy struggling to execute for LA, it's the next.

In 2024, long-time @Dodgers announcer Charley Steiner had his broadcasting dream disrupted by a single word: cancer. Tom Rinaldi tells the story of Steiner’s fight to return to the job he loves.

Hey, Matt! Broadcasters hear this sentiment often. Again, IMO my job is to call the game. If there's a big play, especially in postseason, it will called as a big play. I certainly have more excitement for home highlights. I also won't act personally offended by the opponent.
Matt A. Mayer@ohiomattOct 12
Hey @StephenNelson how about less excitement when the OTHER team does well? Save raised voice & excitement for @Dodgers — you did same things against Braves. C’mon, friend.

think the original post was after Turang's home run. Local kid hits a Tarik Skubal fastball on the inner third for a left-on-left, opposite-field, game-tying HR in the LCS. That just shouldn't get the "somebody stole my lunch money" treatment on a call.

Hamlet is awesome 😂 last week on the plane, he had a notebook of Japanese writings. Said he’s been studying really hard over the last few months. Already has confidence in both hiragana and katakana 👏

BP is obviously, uh, quite different than facing 104 and the slider from Miz. But! It was a really encouraging BP session from our vantage point. Roberts pointed out the “connectivity” of Ohtani’s swing, Dodgers now hoping the results, which he’s beyond due for, follow.

It’s with a heavy heart that I’m sharing the Ditka family has announced the passing of Mike Ditka this morning. Da Coach. Hall of Famer. The heartbeat of the ’85 Bears and a Super Bowl champion. Chicago won’t be the same. Prayers to Diana and the family. RIP, Coach. 🐻⬇️ Here’s a statement from the family: It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Mike Ditka. While the world knew Mike as a Hall of Fame football player, legendary coach, and leader of the Chicago Bears’ Super Bowl XX championship team, we knew him as the heart of our family. Mike will be missed beyond measure and remembered forever. With love and gratitude, The Ditka Family

An expected batting average of .960! A home run in 19 of 30 parks! 106.7 mph off the bat! An incredible, game-changing, series-changing moment in October time.

Joe D's voice box has been hanging on since his last regular-season series on SportsnetLA. IMO, the national convo about supposed bias and call quality is silly when he's healthy. It's been especially misguided recently given he simply has not been able to let it rip on calls.

The White Sox are the first team in MLB history to win 4 straight games in a postseason with their starter going 4 or fewer innings in each of them. They were already the first to win 3. All on the road. Wed in Chicago will be nuts. One win from the ALCS after 3, 100 loss yrs.
