The Jerk isn't just one of the greatest comedies of all time. It even might be the purest, most unapologetically stupid masterpiece ever put on film maybe next to Airplane!. It's a straightforward rags-to-riches story where literally every scene is constructed for no other reason than to land a joke. The principle of laughter first, logic never. There's "so stupid it just might work," and then there is "it's so dumb it's genius." That is The Jerk. The Jerk (1979) | Carl Reiner

The rebel insurgency in Star Wars speaks of justice, yet an old cultist living in a cave grooms an ignorant farm kid with no real political knowledge, isolates him from his legal guardians, and lies to him about his father in an attempt to carry out an extrajudicial hit on his political opponents. Within two weeks, the child is flying kamikaze missions over a space station. The Rebel Alliance isn't a political movement. It’s an unhinged, radicalized terror squad brain washing children.

George Lucas's biggest mistake with the prequels wasn't Jar Jar, it's where we started with Anakin. We should've never met him as a slave boy on Tatooine. Plus, the kid had no hint of corruption whatsoever. Hell, even stealing a trinket from Watto on his way out woulda been something. When we do meet Anakin, he should've been anywhere from a preteen to a fifteen-year-old. His devastating past, whatever that was (because it should've stayed semi-ambiguous), meeting the infinite possibilities of his future. It's from that starting point that every boy, young man, and adult male would recognize some part of themselves. To the kid, it's a positive vision of a boundless future and adventure. To the young adult, it's "he's just like me" (which Lucas obviously nailed). And to the adult, it's looking back at the pitfalls all men face: loving the wrong woman, trusting the wrong person, being easily manipulated, and so on. If anything, Attack of the Clones should've been the real Episode I. Episode II should have been Revenge of the Sith. And Episode III should have been an absolute horror movie where Darth Vader is unleashed like he's the intergalactic Jason Voorhees hunting down Jedi.
