Trump’s son spent two days hunting in Mongolia alongside Umar Kremlyov, the Russian businessman who had paid for a portion of his wedding.
According to the Financial Times, the two reportedly tried to avoid being photographed together during the trip.
Kremlyov was accompanied by Russian entrepreneur Artur Martirosov, a partner at the venture capital fund "Voskhod," which is subject to U.S. sanctions. Trump Jr. was joined by Kevin Small, a long-time donor to the Republican Party.
This is not the first time that ties between the American president’s son and Kremlyov have come to light.
Previously, an investigation by ProPublica revealed that the Russian businessman had covered part of the costs for Trump Jr.’s wedding celebrations in the Bahamas. Trump Sr. later claimed that the money had been paid back to Kremlyov.
A spokesperson for the U.S. president’s son confirmed his friendship with Kremlyov, attributing it to their shared passion for hunting.
