VIDEO: Debris can be seen in the Caribbean after the loss of SpaceX’s Starship, which exploded roughly 8 minutes after launch.
This happened after the engines shut down early, resulting in a loss of altitude control. Despite the explosion, Space X caught its booster at the launch tower.
SpaceX’s Dan Huot said, “Once you lose enough of those center engines, you’re going to lose attitude control… And so we did see the ship start to go into a spin, and at this point, we have lost contact with the ship.”
This marks the eighth test flight of its Starship. The seventh test flight also ended with a loss of the Starship vehicle.
SpaceX’s Starship aims to eventually transport humans and cargo to Mars, support lunar missions, and enable rapid Earth travel.

I think people are conflating the CFPB and Treasury with respect to debanking and hurdles to startups. Banks have been reluctant to deal with certain industries either because they violate federal law (marijuana) or have real or perceived money laundering risks (crypto, some fintech, dealings in high drug-trafficking countries).
I've had an account closed at a bank for suspicious transactions. I know friends who have as well. In all cases, the bank was worried about violating Treasury regulations. The fines to banks for unknowningly abetting illegal activity can be enormous.
Banks respond rationally by refusing to deal with certain people, companies, and industries. The business isn't worth the risk. This does create a huge problem for legitimate businesses caught up in the wake. There isn't a higher authority to appeal to. It's almost impossible for most people to get to someone at the bank who has the authority to override the decision. The bank doesn't care; the downside risk is too large.
I do agree that any regulatory authority, including Treasury and CFPB, can overreach and abuse its power. These are real problems that need the stories told and agencies reformed. But the financial system needs regulating and consumers need protection. The eternal challenge is to find the right balance.
While the idea of "deleting" the CFPB might garner support, it doesn't solve the problems that are creating the frustration. It's not even the source of the real issue of debanking, but "Delete Treasury" doesnt have the same ring to it.

Democratic voters are upset today because we failed to win. What they don't realize is that the Democratic consultant class didn't fail, they made 15% on a billion dollars. That's why they emphasize raising more money from donors than actually delivering for the voters.

@CNN and @CDC please turn on your critical thinking skills.
The @CDC reported that a recent #ecoli outbreak (during a recent 15 day period in mostly midwestern states) is linked to #QuarterPounder consumption, resulting in
49 infections
10 hospitalizations
1 death
On the surface, one might be outraged by this news. However, to understand if this outbreak is unusual, one must put these numbers in relative terms and then compare them to their national counterparts.
To do this, I will compute a best-case scenario for @McDonalds by dividing the above numbers by 110,000,000, the estimated number of Americans visiting a @McDonalds at least once a year (see @apps_enterprise report published on 5/22/24). Doing that results in the following @McDonalds #ecoli rates:
0.45 infections per 1,000,000 people
0.91 hospitalizationsper 10,000,000 people
0.91 deaths per 100,000,000 people
To get a worst-case scenario, you can divide the above numbers by 28,000,000, which is the average number of Americans who visit a @McDonalds daily*. Doing that results in the following @McDonalds #ecoli rates:
1.75 infections per 1,000,000 people
3.57 hospitalizations per 10,000,000 people
3.57 deaths per 100,000,000 people
Either set of rates seems high UNTIL we look at #ecoli rates of the general population. An @AP article published on 10/22/24 reported the following: in the US, #ecoli results in
~74,000 infections
2,000+ hospitalizations
61 deaths
Dividing the above by 350,000,000, the estimated population of the US*, results in the following #national #ecoli rates:
211.43 infections per 1,000,000 people
57.14 hospitalizations per 10,000,000 people
17.43 deaths per 100,000,000 people
When the @McDonalds #ecoli rates are compared to their corresponding national rates, both best-case and worst-case scenario @McDonalds #ecoli rates are much LOWER than their corresponding national rates.
*The @uscensusbureau estimates the population at around 350 million and a report published by @apps_enterprise on 5/22/24 says 8% of Americans visit a McDonald's daily.
