ICYMI ... Here's a look into the mechanics of a manager search for the Mariners. There are initial interviews done over Zoom/Teams for early candidates. They want to pare a list of 20-plus candidates down to 4-5 finalists for in-person interviews.
What will Mariners' search for a manager look like? Here's what to expect.

Julio Rodriguez used the All-Star break to self-analyze and have some hard conversations with himself about who he wanted to be as a player moving forward.
“I feel like sometimes you’ve got to be your best own coach. Once you step on the field, or you step in that batter’s box, it’s on you. There’s nobody else. If you don’t realize those things for yourself, it doesn’t matter how much people tell you. Everybody has their own things they have to figure out.”

The White Sox have signed Jarred Kelenic to a Minor League deal with non-roster invite to camp, per source. Kelenic, 26, was @MLBPipeline’s No. 4 overall prospect in 2021 but hasn’t broken out in five seasons with Seattle and Atlanta. @JesseRogersESPN was on it.

Mariners have been outbid by the New York Mets for Jorge Polanco, who has agreed to a two-year, $40-million deal to go to New York, sources confirm.
Seattle was Polanco's No. 1 choice and he was "very torn" on the decision but ultimately chose the best deal.

Incredibly touching story on the life and legacy of Mia Hamant from @ANYamashita. Even in the face of near certain death, her focus was on helping others.
Mia Hamant, who died Nov. 6 after a monthslong ordeal with a rare form of kidney cancer, was a steely-eyed competitor, the last line of defense and UW’s high-energy hype woman.

The 2023 ALCS began with the Rangers taking a 2-0 lead on the road.
The Rangers lost the next 3 at home.
Texas recovered to win the following two -- and the pennant -- but this is useful context for those wishing to make any declarations in the 6th inning of Game 2.

@StoneLarry I have a blog about the '95 Mariners. It's a mix of stories from fans, some interviews (one with Andy Benes), and a few articles I wrote.
I haven't updated it since 2013, but yesterday it became relevant and timely again. The blog is at 1995mariners.wordpress.com/
