The whole “different colour of skin” argument is a straw man. Of course, being non-White makes no moral difference to your status as a human being. But human beings aren’t Randian individualists either. People have a horrifying capacity to mobilise around ethnic interests and ethnic grievances. Sometimes, market-dominant minorities are persecuted by jealous majorities, as we saw with Han Chinese in Indonesia and Ashkenazi Jews in Russia and Germany. Increasingly, though, we have less competent minorities lashing out at market-dominant majorities, as we see with people of African descent in France. This dynamic not only distorts the political economy, leaving us with less money in our pockets, but also makes social life more miserable and dangerous. Tim Stanley is basically an intellectual dinosaur who hasn’t adjusted his worldview to demographic realities.
