Every young person deserves the chance to build a healthy, hopeful future.
This Red Ribbon Week, I encourage Marylanders to talk with the young people in their lives about the risks of drug use and remind them that support is always within reach.
By listening, building trust, and making prevention a shared responsibility, we can help our youth make informed choices and pursue their dreams.

We've announced our largest investment yet through ENOUGH Initiative grants, with funds going to 30 communities in 13 counties across the state.
In Frederick alone, ENOUGH funding has provided free vision screenings to over 1,000 students and delivered nearly 8,000 pounds of fresh food to local families through mobile produce markets.
By working in partnership, we're empowering communities and surging record resources directly to the neighborhoods that need them most. Every dollar we've invested has leveraged an additional four more from state agencies and philanthropic partners.
As Maryland moves forward, we will leave no one behind. fredericknewspost.com/news/e…

Thank you to Kevin and Dana Simmers for turning unimaginable loss into hope for so many others — and to everyone who continues working to make recovery possible for every Marylander.

Behavioral health and public safety are connected, and our systems need to be, too.
I was glad to help open Maryland’s 5th Annual State Summit on Behavioral Health and the Justice System, bringing together leaders from behavioral health, law enforcement, the courts, local government and community organizations.
When we connect people with the right services at the right time, we can prevent crises from escalating, reduce unnecessary involvement in the justice system and build safer, healthier communities.

Supporting people in recovery makes our workplaces and communities stronger.
Today, we brought employers, recovery advocates, and state leaders together to discuss how we can build on Maryland’s progress as a Recovery Friendly Workplace and create more supportive workplaces across our state.

Recovery is a source of strength. No Marylander should have to choose between their recovery and the opportunity to build a career.
Today, Governor Moore signed an executive order making Maryland state government a Recovery Friendly Workplace, ensuring we lead by example in supporting employees in recovery and reducing the stigma around substance use disorder.
Meaningful employment can be a cornerstone of recovery. We’re proud to make Maryland a place where people have the support they need to recover, succeed, and thrive.

Stigma can prevent people struggling with substance use disorder from seeking the care and support they need. By replacing judgment with compassion, we can help make recovery feel possible.
