On Wednesday, Jeffery Simmons said he wasn't looking to leave Tennessee. A day later, the #Titans traded their best defensive player. He carried a leadership burden that once was shared by Derrick Henry, Ryan Tannehill, Kevin Byard and others. paulkuharsky.com/news/news-t…

Jeff is unquestionably one of the greatest Titans of all time, and easily the best DT in football right now, but I think you can be comfortable moving him for this return. For where Tennessee is in their rebuilding life cycle, this is an outstanding return. Big time acquisition of future assets for a franchise that desperately needs it
The Bears are sending two first-round picks and a fourth-rounder to the Titans for Jeff Simmons. A monster deal.

Cam Ward deserves more time. I've argued that consistently. But the #Titans quarterback needs to show a better understanding of where he stands. His confidence is outpacing his progress, and the accountability standard should start with him. paulkuharsky.com/news/news-t…

#Titans CB Cor'Dale Flott has now had game-swinging INTs in back-to-back weeks. A lot of the free agency class attention has (understandably) gone towards Alontae Taylor, but Flott is playing up to his contract imo

Cam Ward says the #Titans are figuring out their strengths very fast. The offense has scored 50 points in six quarters. That's progress. But Tennessee still can't put together a complete game, and the wait for consecutive wins continues. paulkuharsky.com/news/titans…

🖤🧡 TONIGHT’S BROADCAST IS DEDICATED TO TOYA JONES Tonight, as we bring you the action, we do so with heavy hearts and in honor of someone who will forever be a part of the Refugio community. Refugio Sports Network dedicates tonight’s broadcast to Toya Cardin Jones (October 28, 1976 – October 22, 2026), a proud Refugio High School Class of 1995 alumnus whose talent, accomplishments, and memories left a lasting impact on so many. From bringing home 13 state track gold medals to representing his talents on the football field at Texas A&M, Toya gave our community so many reasons to be proud. His legacy extends far beyond the records he set and the medals he won. It lives on in the memories we share, the lives he touched, and the pride we will always have in calling him one of our own. Tonight, as we watch our athletes compete, we are reminded that sports are about more than the game. They are about community, brotherhood, memories, and the people who make those moments unforgettable. Toya, tonight we dedicate this broadcast to you. Though you may no longer be with us, your legacy will continue to run through the heart of Refugio. Until we meet again, we’ll keep watching, keep remembering, and keep cheering — hoping to catch a glimpse of you running one more time on that golden track. 🏃🏾‍♂️💛 Rest in Paradise, Toya. You will never be forgotten. ❤️ Forever a Bobcat. Forever one of our own. youtube.com/@refugiosportsne… — Refugio Sports Network

Rest in Paradise, Toya Jones ❤️ It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that I share the news of the passing of Toya Jones, a proud member of the Refugio High School Class of 1995. Some people come into this world with a special gift, and Toya was one of those people. He was an incredible athlete, a fierce competitor, and, without a doubt, one of the greatest athletes to ever wear the colors of Refugio High School. When Toya stepped onto the track or the field, you knew you were about to witness something special. He had a God-given talent that was truly amazing to watch. I will never forget the excitement of getting in the car and making that drive to Austin to watch Toya compete at the state track meet. There was something special about knowing you were going to watch someone you knew accomplish extraordinary things. And Toya never disappointed. Thirteen gold medals at the state track meets! Just think about that. What an incredible accomplishment. I remember watching him compete and thinking how fortunate I was to witness such greatness firsthand. Those are memories I will always carry with me. When Toya graduated from Refugio, his journey continued to Texas A&M University, where he signed to play football and run track. I would look forward to Saturdays, watching the Aggies play and hoping to catch a glimpse of Toya on that field. Every time I saw him out there, I felt that hometown pride. That was our Toya—a Refugio athlete who had made it to the next level and given us another reason to cheer. It’s hard to put into words what it feels like to hear that someone you remember being so full of life, strength, and promise is gone. Somehow, it just doesn’t seem right. Superheroes aren’t supposed to pass away. And to those of us who watched Toya run, compete, and accomplish things most could only dream of, he truly seemed like a superhero. Today, my heart goes out to Toya’s family, friends, former teammates, classmates, and everyone who loved him. I pray that God wraps His loving arms around each of you and gives you comfort and strength during this difficult time. Toya, thank you for the memories. Thank you for the excitement of those trips to Austin, the Saturday afternoons watching the Aggies, and the pride you brought to Refugio. Thank you for reminding us what determination, talent, and a competitive spirit look like. You may be gone from this earth, but the memories of watching you do what you did best will stay with me forever. I can only imagine the race waiting for you in Heaven. No pain, no struggles, just a golden track and a finish line that never comes too soon. Rest in Paradise, Toya. Until we meet again, I’ll be looking forward to watching you run one more time on that golden track. You were one of a kind, and you will never be forgotten. ❤️🙏🏽

Best all around high school athlete I ever seen in our area. The things he could do you only dreamt of. Thanks for the memories, Toya!
I am so sorry to hear that Toya Jones of Refugio has passed away. He was a joyful guy to be around. A national titlist in track (4x100) at Texas A&M, Aggies will always remember, too, he made a huge defensive play late in the 1998 Big 12 title game vs. KSU:

At halftime, Peter Skoronski expected the familiar "Here we go again" feeling in the #Titans locker room. He was surprised by what he found. That response helped Tennessee turn a 13-0 deficit into its first victory under Robert Saleh. Unlocked paulkuharsky.com/news/titans…

This is my favorite run of Jkoby Williams career. 4 missed tackles on his way to the endzone. What an effort from the pride of Beckville🔥🔥🔥

It was ugly, but the #Titans pick up their first win of 2026 nonetheless. My takeaways from the broadcast angle: Positives: - the defense and ST units hit a new stride in the 2nd half. Was the best we’ve ever seen them under the current staff - Jeff Simmons is unblockable - Secondary looked competent in the 2nd half - Carnell Tate is a bonafide WR1 - despite having possibly the worst PR of any NFL player ever, Tony Pollard is still a really good running back - bounce back day for the OL Negatives: - Cam Ward was still borderline unplayable for most of the day today. On top of all the worsening, existing issues, he also had an obscene amount of passes batted down at the LOS today - continued drop issues from pass catchers not named Carnell Tate - run defense was really shaky whenever the Colts were able to play from the driver’s seat - Brian Daboll was inept in all facets of calling an offense for most of the day
