The transatlantic alliance is over, finished, gone.
Britain and Europe need to admit it.

100,000 people still die each year from measles.
It is far from harmless.
Before widespread vaccination, around 2.5 million used to die each year.
Vaccines save lives!

Today marks one month of the Trump presidency, in which the US has
- backed Russia against Ukraine
- left the Paris accords on climate change
- left WHO
- slapped tariffs on allies
- started dismantling domestic rules & agencies that protect consumers, workers & the environment

Kemi Bay-denoch thinks "there’s a lot that needs fixing. The economy. The NHS. Immigration".
Is she aware her party was in power for 14 years?
Is she aware she was in government?

Unless she means they are someone else's fault

On the one hand No 10 will be frustrated that his answers on MegaloMusk will eat into coverage on the NHS. On the other hand his answers on Musk’s spreading of lies and misinformation, and the Kemi Jenrick bandwagoning, were spot on. A fight worth having.

This execrable man tells us we've got poorer - we have - but doesn't blame the real reason - Brexit - & instead blames immigration.
Shameless.
Right wing stooge interviewer of course doesn't challenge.
Pathetic, irresponsible, damaging.
The softest interview imaginable with Nigel Farage on #BBCLauraK
No pushback, no challenge, just nodding acceptance of populist rhetoric.
Farage complains “We are getting poorer”
Not challenged by @bbclaurak on the role Brexit has played in UK economic downturn.
Pathetic.

Farage should have been asked about this - he should be forced to own it

Here's some good news to start the New Year!
Despite the problems faced by hospitals & the difficulty in seeing a GP, the NHS has managed to diagnose more cancers at early stages than ever before.
That's worth some doorstep applause.
Keep it up!

This is normal at this time of year (thats why its "lowest since Feb 2024").
The survey monitors lack of confidence, predictable given the media onslaught on Labour.
No company yet had to pay extra NI.
Bank of England wil lower Interest rates in February.

Did farmers protest when they lost their EU subsidies and didn’t get it replaced by the Tories? I don’t think they did. Happy to be corrected

The news that people inheriting land worth at least £1 million will have to pay tax on it has drawn significantly more outrage from politicians and the press than the news that 1 in 3 children in Britain are now living in poverty.

Relentless one-sided coverage of NHS by @BBCr4today: now reporting rising gynaecology waiting lists while failing to report Streeting’s talk of non-existent “spare capacity” in private sector, and evidence that private “care” is more expensive and has poorer outcomes for patients

I'm concerned that “big corporate entities” such as Palantir are trying to become integral parts of providing public services. Highly extractive corporate entities are always going to put their own interests first, not the interests of the NHS or other public services. It seems that this Labour government is under pressure to deliver growth at all costs. My fear is that this pressure will lead us to take shortcuts to deliver that growth at a rapid rate, and we may regret what we have done.
