A true class act. My favourite batsman of all time, @David215Gower was elegance personified 🏏
#OnThisDay in 1992, David Gower played his final Test at The Oval.
He was bowled for 1 by Waqar Younis in the second innings as Pakistan won by 10 wickets to seal the series 2-1.
Gower had scored 73 and 31* in his previous two Tests, but was controversially left out of England’s tour of India that winter.
He finished with 8,231 Test runs, an England record that was soon broken by Graham Gooch.

Diego Maradona after Napoli v Milan in 1989:
“This one is from a big player. I think that Franco Baresi is the best defender. This shirt will be a memory that I will keep for the rest of my life."

The youth of today will have no idea how great this man was. An absolute GIANT & LEGEND of the game. Made defending look so easy. RIP 🕊️
The entire history of AC Milan is in tears following the passing of Franco Baresi. His example and integrity will be forever etched into the Club's DNA, just as his iconic number 6 shirt is. The condolences AC Milan extends to Franco Baresi's family at such a difficult time are shared by every Rossonero, who feels this loss as their own.
‘Starboy’ (sic), aka Limping Cunt, clearly not fit so why take him? He should have had the self respect to withdraw himself & allow one of our other attackers to go. Complete waste of a spot in the squad 😡
That Morroco No.6, Bouaddi, looks like some player. Only 18 as well 😳 #worldcup #brazilmorroco
Such short memories #WHUFC fans have. I know plenty of time served Reds who were pissed off with SAF for not putting out a stronger team & sending them down. They had 95 still fresh in their minds so wanted revenge! #thfc #mufc
West Ham fans were outraged when a weakened Aston Villa side capitulated to Tottenham Hotspur, giving the North Londoners an advantage in the battle to avoid relegation.
Yet clubs prioritizing different competitions come May is hardly new. In fact, back in 2007, it was West Ham and Carlos Tevez who stayed up on the last day, at the expense of Sheffield United, by beating a weakened Manchester United side.
Rotation is a fact of football life. But players not trying? That’s another matter.

Somehow I doubt very much this current team will have the balls or fight in them like our team 10 years previous. #BattleOfTheBridge #thfc
Chelsea 🆚 Tottenham is understood to have been rescheduled for Tuesday 19th May with kick-off at 8:15pm [@johncrossmirror]
We’re playing statistically the worst team in the whole PL and haven’t created a single chance. Do these cunts have no shame 🤬🤬🤬
