my 16 y/o nephew was kidnapped yesterday just as he was about to arrive at his home in Midrand around 5pm, he was coming from the shops, they approached him as if they were asking for directions & then grabbed his hand and took him to the bushes.

💔 [Tears in my eyes] Whatever happened to you bro, Woke up missing him today and if the world could help us find him or find closure with us although it isn't what we're hoping for, we'd be at peace. Next month marks 14 years since his disappearance and has been hurting for everyone. We all miss you Tlasco.
I sometimes wish I knew what happened to my brother, if he is still alive somewhere or his body is left unidentified at some morgue in the world. I miss you, Motlatsi. No day passes without us asking ourselves questions about you since your disappearance.

Twenty years ago, I met a young man from Newcastle in Durban. L’vovo Derrango. My brother. 🖤 Although he wasn’t from Durban, Durban is where we would make history. It’s where I discovered him, believed in him, and signed him as my very first artist, ever, at just 24 years old. It’s where I built him a home at Mayonie Productions Label. Together, we created something so unique that it needed its own name. I began referring to it as Durban Kwaito Music, because there was nothing else quite like what we were doing. And we took that sound everywhere. Johannesburg. Cape Town. Barcelona. Stages across the world. Two boys from KZN, carrying our story further than we ever imagined. Yesterday, twenty years later, we stood on that same stage together in Durban, this time for my own festival. Some of the people in that crowd were born in the very same year I discovered and signed him. Twenty years! We’ve been through more than most people will ever know. We survived an accident together that took people we loved. We built a sound that became part of this city. We fell out, and somehow found our way back to each other, because real brotherhood survives all of that. And then came the stroke. Watching him fight to stand again. To speak again. To walk back into a studio. To reclaim pieces of himself and his glory. That kind of strength is difficult to put into words. His mother asked me to look out for him a long time ago. That was never a favour. That was family. So when he walked out onto that Mayonie Open Air stage yesterday, I wasn’t just proud of the artist. I was proud of the survivor. The fighter. The brother. My first artist. And the man who is still here. Still standing. Still rising. Twenty years, L’Vovo. From Durban to the world. Durban Kwaito Music forever. I’ll always be right there with you. #MayonieOpenAir #DurbanKwaitoMusic #DKM God Speed Osama. 🖤

The debate on the Xhosa Traditional Attire is interesting. Traditionally nothing was worn just because it looked nice. Colours, fabric, beadwork or even the length of a skirt and whether shoulders were covered all carried meaning. Clan. Status. Whether you’d been initiated, married, or were in mourning. Red ochre wasn’t a colour choice, it was identity and even resistance. A makoti’s dress wasn’t a style, it was respect made visible. So the questioning isn’t hate or policing fun. It’s people watching a whole language get flattened into aesthetics, and knowing that once the meaning goes it rarely comes back. We can wear what we want, that’s our right. Let’s just know what we’re carrying before remixing it.

People understand that it is her mother who stole someone's identity, not her. You're applying a blanket approach to the Chidimma case. According to papers in court: 07 Aug 2024, Home Affairs announces that her birth reg was done by means of ID theft. The ID belonged to Sara Moyo. Further investigation confirms that her birth registration contravened the Births reg act Following the discovery of her illegal status, she left SA to take up her Nigerian citizenship. The department reaches out to her, even via WhatsApp, about its intention to nullify the SA documents (fraudulent docs). She failed to make a representation (window to regularise) She was placed on the Visa-restricted list. While she was out of the country, her mother gets arrested. Chidimma's child is then taken by social workers. Surprisingly, she entered the country (she has an SA passport) on 09 June, and she was arrested. The court makes an error and postpones her case.

The reporting around this issue hasn’t been great. I.e people think Chidimma herself stole someone’s ID when it was her mother who did and Chidimma got her citizenship as a result of having a “South African” mother. There wasn’t an existing ID that was stolen & given to Chidimma

Hi Mbali. I’m so sorry for your loss 🩷. Let me know when you’re in Johannesburg with your sister. My airbnb in Waterfall has a beautiful Spa and Restaurant. Happy to offer a 1-night stay at no cost to you. DMs are open 🩷
My baby sister is turning 21 in just over a month. Our mom died almost 4 months ago. She lives with me now and I’ve assumed the responsibility of making sure she’s okay until she can be independent. I need ideas on how to make her 21st special. Points to consider: She’s an introvert and a homebody but I don’t want her to celebrate endlini; she loves music (gqom and amapiano) and she loves designer and aesthetically pleasing stuff. What can I do to make her birthday memorable and special?
