Start your screenings for colorectal cancer at age 45! Remember, finding a non-cancer polyp and removing it PREVENTS a cancer from forming. Don't get cancer, just get your colonoscopy. We recommend this @COHMedOnc
New guidelines for #colorectal cancer screening means people without any symptoms should get screened starting at age 45! I discussed this for KTUV San Francisco KTVU.com/video/934902 so check it out for advice. We highly recommend this @COHMedOnc and @mgfakih
#neratnib is emerging as an important component of #breastcancer therapy. I have worked with @YuanYuanMDPhD on #geriatricpatients to show how beneficial this can be as published @JGeriOnc. Patients and #oncologists need to discuss when and at what dose to use this drug safely.

People sense that Covid risk is receding with vaccines, and they want to reclaim normalcy. We need to issue public health guidance in a way that recognizes peoples aspirations. While we need to remain cautious a little longer, the situation should sharply improve this spring 1/2
“You have to issue the guidance in the context of what people are willing to do,” @ScottGottliebMD tells @margbrennan of whether public health experts' warnings about #Covid19 are being ignored.
He reiterates that urging caution and mitigation, like masks, is key.

A #pandemic tragic triad has emerged of #smoking #cancer and #COVID-19. Smoking causes cancer and worse COVID, cancer increases COVID, and COVID worsens cancer outcomes. @COHMedOnc has developed new programs to mitigate this triad across the institution and the community.
I talked nationally to oncologists on the best of the #ACCC national meeting. During #COVID #burnout in doctors, nurses is common. Beware of burnout in your healthcare, be sure you get screened for cancers, get prevention, and always get a second opinion @COHMedOnc if necessary.
#Lungcancer cure rates in smokers have been higher with screening with low dose CT yearly. A new study TALENT showed that non-smokers at high risk (family history, passsive smoking, emphysema) cure is also higher with annual low dose CT. Ask your MD, get screened, see @COHMedOnc
In the news, the record setting decrease in cancer death rates has been overlooked. Death rates decreased 2.9% in 2017. Even in African-Americans death rates decreased from 33% to 13% over 25 years! Congrats America and @COHmedoc.
#breastcancer researchers and #clinicaltrials have improved women's lives and optimism. The 5 year survival rate is now 99% for localized cancer. Get a second opinion for the best care #CityofHope @COHMedOnc

#BreastCancer news at #SABCS2020 conference. For women who need #radiation therapy, less costly, less toxic, and shorter treatments are now standard with #hypofractionation or #partialbreastradiation which we use at #CityofHope @COHmedonc. Ask your doctor about these.
A recent article (JNCCN 2020;18:1468) showed only 52% of cancer survivors used the internet for cancer information. Cancer patients, always use trusted sites to get more information to help your survival. Ask your doctor which sites you should use or use @cityofhope @COHMedOnc
#covid #vaccines will be approved soon. If you've had #cancer #lymphoma or #chemotherapy, ask your doctor now (before the demand increases) where and when you will be able to get your doses, like hospitals or pharmacies. Check our guidelines @cityofhope @COHMedOnc
