I created LearnCoronary (learncoronary.com), an interactive tool designed to help general cardiology fellows and other early-career learners better understand coronary angiography and the spatial relationships between different angiographic views.

Women remain underdiagnosed, underrepresented, and undertreated across medical research and clinical care, including cardiovascular health! Fantastic to see efforts such as Her Heart conference ❤️ #herheart #cardiovascularhealth
1/ Training scientists takes on average 7 years. If we have a funding gap for just 4 years, that’s a decade of lost science.

2/ Science with potentially great impact which we may never come to know! Lot of science’s goes wrong but pay off is still $4 economic gain for ever $1 invested!

3/ Australia only spends a fraction of their overall GDP into scientific research compared to the rest of the world. This is holding us back as a country!
Write to your MP as well! We need change.

Today we had our first share and connect informal mid career academics at UNSW network meeting - we talked about burnout. The number one issue in my cohort. my opinion? Prioritising is fine but nothing beats knowing your workers rights.
Women make up 51% of Australia’s workforce, but leadership remains disproportionately male

Power is about impact, not position. Influence matters more than authority. Empowering is a responsibility. Authenticity, resilience & courage are essential.

Published in the International Journal for Numerical Methods in Biomedical Engineering, this comprehensive review highlights how 👇️ 🧵
2/
👉️ computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and multi-objective optimization are maturing into essential clinical tools
✅️ By factoring in patient-specific angles, plaque properties, and precise balloon positioning, we can improve stenting outcomes in complex lesions
3/
From blood flow mechanics to smarter stents, combining biomedical engineering with patient-specific data is driving safer, personalised cardiac care 🫀 ❤️

#1 feedback on struggles for mid career academics? It’s burnout. How do you create a life-work balance? I certainly do not get it right when major grant are due

Women are entering STEM, but far too few remain in the workforce. The drop from 37% of enrolments to just 15% of the workforce in Australia represents a huge loss of talent, expertise and innovation. We cannot afford to lose so many capable people.
