I’ve always had a soft spot for goalkeeper shirts. I was born in the 80s, and for me they peaked in the 90s: bold colours, wild patterns and so much personality. It felt like every keeper had a shirt of his own.
Nowadays, so many clubs share the same template in the same colours, just with a different badge.
Still, I absolutely love this one. That shade of blue, the pattern across the front, the white details… a beautiful shirt, even before getting into the story behind Leno’s particular version. 🧤

BERND LENO | FULHAM 2025/26 🧤
A match-issued shirt from my collection, obtained through a contact close to the club, with a detail that makes it particularly interesting: the short sleeves.
Adidas produced this AEROREADY template in both sleeve lengths, but Fulham only offered the long-sleeved shirt through the club shop.
This one comes with the embroidered Fulham crest, Leno’s printing and the Premier League patches. A short-sleeved club version prepared for him that you couldn’t simply order from the official shop.
For a collector, those differences are a big part of the appeal. And there’s a story behind why Leno wears this particular version, too. ↓

According to my contact close to the club, Leno initially wore the pro version in size L — the version Fulham’s U21 goalkeepers still use.
He then switched to the regular AEROREADY shirt in XL because he preferred a roomier fit, and has stayed with it ever since. The pro version was available to him; the looser cut was his own preference.
That leaves us with an interesting combination: the retail AEROREADY fabric and embroidered crest, in a short-sleeved Fulham shirt that wasn’t offered to supporters.
Mine is match-issued, although the exact fixture remains unconfirmed.
I also have an earlier Leno shirt with another twist to the sleeve story. I’ll save that one for a separate post.

Same old problems.
I liked a lot of what we did tonight. We moved the ball quickly, Bobb looked lively and we created enough to win. Things got scrappy late on, but the problem in front of goal was there from the start.
Muniz, Gonzalo, both together… we still couldn’t find a goal. Henderson deserves credit, but we have to take those chances. I don’t think this is a problem Arbeloa created.
I thought Robinson looked unusually uncertain in possession, too. And while Iwobi’s turnover starts the move for the goal, Andersen still has to stop Nketiah getting across him at the near post. For me, that defending is nowhere near good enough. I don’t understand why Cuenca can’t get an opportunity.
I can see positives in Arbeloa’s football, but I still question how he uses the squad. Cairney getting minutes makes sense, but this felt like a game for Reed and Cuenca too. I’d also like to see Smith Rowe involved again when available.
Kevin had very little time to make an impact, but I still found his contribution disappointing.
There were positives in our football. The same old problems keep undoing them.

We need to pray every day that Affengruber never even catches a cold. Andersen is an absolute nightmare. We can’t thank Elche enough.

We are Fulham. Super Fulham. We are Fulham. #FFC
Two wins, two clean sheets. We needed that.
What encouraged me most in the first half was how much more settled we looked at the back. Earlier in the season, every opposition attack felt like it could end in a goal. Today, I wasn’t getting that same feeling.
It was a tight, scrappy game. King was unlucky to hit the woodwork, and Bobb won it with a brilliant goal. Credit to Arbeloa for continuing to back him.
There’s still work to do in attack. I like Gonzalo and want him to succeed, but we need more goals from our number nine.
The opposition has to be taken into account, and there are tougher tests ahead. But these were two important games to win, and we’ve come away with six points without conceding.
Are we starting to find a better balance?

I agree. Like I said, that’s why I miss having a player like Mitrović so much.
Hopefully Gonzalo’s just going through what Suárez did when he first joined Barça. It took him six games to score his first goal, and then he never looked back.
Might as well turn this into a Mitro appreciation post too. A few of his match-worn shirts from my collection.

Managers, players and even owners come and go. Only Fulham matters and endures. Into them from the first minute, don't give Kavanagh the chance to send anyone off and keep your foot on their throats until the very last second. The fightback starts here. #ffc

By far our best 60 minutes of the league season. Organised, solid at the back and keeping Hull pinned back, waiting for a counter.
Bobb causing all sorts of problems, Josh King a joy to watch. Bassey, Iwobi and Castagne have been very good too.
Their keeper’s done well, but with sharper finishing we could comfortably be 3–0 up. Iwobi really should have buried that one-on-one, although he’s the one who put us ahead, so I’ll forgive him.
Gonzalo’s working hard and making good runs, but his touch has let him down a couple of times. He looks like he needs a goal to settle. I’d consider a change up front.
This is what these players are capable of. Now the substitutions and how we manage the last half-hour are crucial, especially after the points we’ve dropped late in games. We need to turn this performance into a win.
