This. I wish people on the left understood. Handouts only work until an inflation eats them up. They don`t actually improve the "cost of living". If you want to redistribute the wealth, you must ensure that wealth keeps being created. Or you end up making everyone poor.
He's not wrong. For decades, European governments have promised more than their economies can sustainably deliver, financing ever-expanding obligations through increasingly punitive taxation of labour and enterprise. This is the fundamental contradiction of Europe's economic model: we demand growth, innovation, investment and re-industrialisation while systematically eroding the incentives that can finance them. 🤷‍♀️ You cannot tax and regulate your way into prosperity , sorry. Wealth must first be created before it can be redistributed.
Ukraine's emergency service says the death toll from the November 2 Russian airstrike on a school distributing humanitarian aid in Komyshuvakha has risen to 55. Rescuers recovered the remains of nine more victims and continue searching despite the threat of further attacks. #Ukraine

In Istanbul in 1999, Russia pledged to withdraw all Russian army units from Moldova by the end of 2002. Despite repeated requests from the OSCE, Russia never withdrew its troops.
In Istanbul in 2022, Russia proposed “security guarantees” for Ukraine from the US, UK, France, China—and Russia itself. If Russia started another war, it could veto the others’ military assistance. Every Russian “security guarantee” or deal merely paves the way for its next war.

A crater in Kyiv after a Russian missile strike last night. As you can see, the Russians again attempted to destroy a residential building and kill dozens of civilians. But they missed by a few meters. This night, "humanist" Putin's terrorist attack failed.

💔 The death toll has risen to 50. Around 20 people are still missing. russia turned a school in Komyshuvakha into a mass grave. Fifty lives lost. And the search is still ongoing.
The horrific moment a russian FAB-3000 struck a school where civilians had gathered to receive humanitarian aid. 31 killed. 48 still missing. russia is a murderous state. Stop pretending otherwise.

Three minutes after Pete Hegseth tweeted "Patriots in control" (a foundational QAnon slogan), Putin ally/Kremlin propagandist Kirill Dmitriev tweeted "WWG1WGA" (another foundational QAnon slogan). They know what they're doing. This has activated the QAnon crowd to a degree that I haven't seen in a long time.

Outstanding work here by Stuff's Paula Penfold. She is one of the few investigative journalists exposing Chinas actions in NZ. Very few others seem to have the courage to touch the subject. stuff.co.nz/nz-news/36105600…

This dog in the rescuer's arms managed to survive on this day after a russian shelling of a residential area, but another pet dog died right in its own yard. Death in my country, in Ukraine, has a completely different name - it is not a fleshless figure in a black hooded cloak with a scythe in its hand. These are very much living people; they just live in another country and think that they can do whatever they want with everyone who lives outside its borders. And overall, considering the years of war in my country, it feels like there is some cruel truth to this, as russians really are allowed to do this to us Ukrainians. Even despite all our conversations, requests, and pleas to put an end to all of this, today, they have lost their validity and meaning. What it ultimately showed us is the reality of this world: you either let someone push you around, or you become strong and learn to stand up for yourself. In both cases, there are consequences... This situation shows how quickly you can lose everything. And it seems like you are standing alive near your burning house, but for some reason, you don’t feel alive at that moment... These Ukrainians you can see are standing before us only by a miracle, they literally survived the shelling and are talking about how it all happened. The owners of this once-intact house say that everything burned down and the only clothes they have left are what they are currently wearing. The man also said that he had wanted to climb into the attic of his house and decided to do it later, and that exact decision saved his life. From the 00:28 mark, the rescuers show other houses that were already damaged at different times. This is the city of Sloviansk and its surroundings; life is leaving this place, just like the wild animals. And all of this is the fault of the russian people.

A place that exists for one reason—to give critically ill, dying children a shred of peace and comfort in their final days—was turned into a war zone by russian drones. At the House of Butterflies hospice in Chernivtsi, staff had to haul these kids, many on life support and unable to move, out of their beds and into shelters while air-raid sirens screamed, russian drones roared overhead, and nearby strikes lit the night with fires. russia is a cruel evil terrorist state! We can never hate them enough

"I heard the voice of my wife, I was crying like a small baby. Until that moment, I thought I was a strong Ukrainian Marine Corps officer. And Marines don’t cry," - former prisoner of war Yulian Pylypei, describing the moment he heard his wife’s voice for the first time after captivity. The Ukrainian Marine Corps captain spent two and a half years in Russian captivity. Speaking at the opening of the Kyiv Security Forum’s Brussels office, he shared his experience of torture during interrogations, starvation, psychological abuse, and the long-awaited return home. "You have to be scared. When you hear footsteps in the corridor, you start trembling because you know they're coming to take you for interrogation. The longest interrogation I went through lasted six hours straight. They drained two batteries from stun guns on my body, using all kinds of different things. Just imagine: your lunch is just a plate of some kind of white liquid. It's basically water, with no salt or fat at all. I didn't see any fat for two and a half years." 📹: Kyiv Security Forum

One of the most horrific cases that i’ll never forget was back in 2024. Russian soldiers who were keeping hold of a girl in her late teens in Zaporizhzhia, had raped and got her pregnant. Sometime in December, Russian forces dragged her out of her apartment and thought it would be “fun” to strip her of all clothing in sub zero temperatures (with blankets of snow around, too). They broke into her place (they’d been harassing her for months already) & locked her out into the cold. Hours had passed, but only after 11 hours did they bother to check up on her. By that point she had already died of hypothermia, at 5-6 months pregnant.
Winter is going to be so rough for Ukraine. My biggest concerns, though, are with the Ukrainians in occupied territories. It goes beyond infrastructure & electricity concerns, too. Every winter, we see deaths of Ukrainians who’ve been chucked out of or locked out of their homes &/or made to do things that Russian forces know fully well, will inflict hypothermia & potentially (and often does) lead to death. Whether it be forcing them to strip down to bare skin, get into or submerge themselves in lakes, rivers, etc. All as a form of ‘punishment’. It’s just so sick.

Sofiivska Borshchahivka is a historic village in the Bucha district of Kyiv region, dating back to 1497. It once belonged to Kyiv’s St. Sophia Monastery, from which it got its name. Now it’s in flames 😢

Replying to @yana_lantratova
@yana_lantratova has stolen Ukrainian children and facilitated their forcible deportation to Russia. Ukrainian authorities have charged her over her role in kidnapping vulnerable toddlers from the Kherson Regional Children’s Home during Russian occupation. This is a heinous war crime.
In Washington, D.C., I attended the press conference of US First Lady Melania Trump @FLOTUS at the White House. The event was dedicated to the outcomes of the humanitarian mission in Oleshky coordinated by the First Lady. Every human life matters to us. Our continued cooperation is a chance to save more people and keep helping those in need.

EUROPA, EIN APPELL AN EUCH! Die Russin Anyuta Stepanova mit einer dringenden Warnung aus Russland: Ein Tier, das einmal Menschenfleisch gekostet hat, wird kein Vegetarier mehr. By Leonid Darmenov.

Crime without accountability is practice. Justice is not vengeance. When the Soviet Union collapsed, we let euphoria blind us to the need for the hard work of investigation and responsibility. Do not forgive, do not forget, and clean house.
Hearings, subpoenas for Musk, Witkoff, Kushner, Don Jr., Eric, Beach. It should be a C-Span limited series.
