Alan Greenspan bade us farewell today. A man who was celebrated as the central bankers' central banker based on the conviction that markets are divine and volatility is a virtue. His epitaph? A singular, glorious confession: “I found a flaw in my model of the world.” A flaw, he said, as though it were a leaky pipe, not a total collapse of the intellectual architecture that anointed him Oracle. For decades, he preached that the self-interest of the predator was the invisible hand of the common good. Then, in 2008, the beast devoured the table, and to his credit he blinked, admitting that his entire worldview—the one that central bankers canonized and the world swallowed—was a fairy tale for rentiers. He did not, of course, admit to culpability. That would require a moral compass, a device notably absent from his Ayn Randian toolbelt. No, he merely noted the flaw, as a meteorologist might note a gust of wind, and returned to his well-earned silence. So farewell, Maestro. You helped erect a broken global casino economy, but at least you had the decency to read the autopsy report aloud. Alas, countless millions are still paying for your asterisk. nytimes.com/2026/06/22/us/al…

The Israelis are eliminating one of the last Christian Palestinians strongholds in the West Bank and the place I chose to stay when I was researching the Palestinian Christians in From the Holy Mountain. It is a place with an incredibly ancient history, a cradle of Christianity, and its people have some of the closest DNA matches to the people of the time of Christ. Why is no one reporting this?

Woe to those who manipulate religion and the very name of God for their own military, economic, and political gain, dragging that which is sacred into darkness and filth. #ApostolicJourney #Cameroon vatican.va/content/leo-xiv/e…

Oh dear, when a world leader threatens to, or boasts of, bringing an enemy 'back to the Stone Ages where they belong', I feel that we are all drawn back a little towards the Stone Age (if that's not an insult to the Stone Age).

Now that the most powerful nation on earth is ruled by an ugly man who’s proud to be selfish, brutal & wildly barbaric and who shamelessly promotes the doctrine of Might is Right, we can finally choose if we really want to live in a world like this. The mask has truly fallen.

Last night I discovered that the director of American Psycho (film circa 2000) had a brief relationship with T Blair when they were both at Oxford. Also the film briefly mentions Donald Trump and shows the back of Ivanka at an upscale NYC restaurant. Prophecy or intuition?

When people at the very top are black and white thinkers, we’re in serious trouble. We need a very different breed of leaders in every sphere.

Oligarchs with agendas are funding the fake Left vs Right football game. Let's wake up and create a system of information and problem solving that isn't funded by them. Otherwise, we are toast.
