The march was a success. Today in Johannesburg, people came together in their numbers to stand against xenophobia, peacefully, powerfully, and with purpose. Voices were heard, solidarity was visible, and the message was clear: we reject hate and division. #SayNoToXenophobia #KAAX

This is good news. Thanks @SECTION27news @MSF @TAC
Treatment Action Campaign (TAC), Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and Kopanang Africa Against Xenophobia (KAAX), represented by SECTION27, welcome a landmark Gauteng High Court ruling ordering the state to take immediate and decisive action to end the obstruction of access to public healthcare facilities in Gauteng. The Court found that authorities violated patients’ constitutional rights by failing to prevent unlawful groups from blocking healthcare access. 5️⃣ Critically — preserve and sustainably fund community-led monitoring like @RitshidzeSA . Without it, crucial visibility into system failures is lost, and accountability vanishes just when it's needed most.

3️⃣Clinics need more staff — and better support systems to prevent burnout. This includes fixing filing/data systems to speed up service delivery. 4️⃣ Ensure dignity, respect, confidentiality &non-discrimination in care incl key populations, migrants&ppl re-starting treatment.

🧵What are the recommendations to protect gains in the HIV response, clinics must restore&scale up: 1️⃣Multi-month ARV dispensing (3–6-month refills) for stable patients 2️⃣Community- and facility-based pick-up points to reduce congestion&long wait times

Thank you for the link. Staffing remains a huge challenge across most facilities. I am inspired that you continued with CLM regardless of PEPFAR funding cut! Amandla!

Ritshidze, the world’s largest community-led monitoring system, is in jeopardy following the cuts to U.S development aid funds. “We had to retrench more than a hundred people,” says @TAC’s Anele Yawa. “We’re left with a quarter of the community monitors.” The USAID cuts immediately shrank their footprint from 25 to just 16 priority health districts with high HIV prevalence. [ON AIR] South African HIV/AIDS activist organization, the Treatment Action Campaign (@TAC ) has strongly opposed imminent plans to shut down UNAIDS, as announced by the United Nations Secretary General, Antonio Guterres. The organisation says actively dismantling the only dedicated UN body coordinating the HIV response will have a devastating impact on the lives of millions of people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS and will undermine years of hard-fought gains in the HIV response. To discuss this further, @innocentsemosa is joined on the line Ndivuwo Ritshidze project coordinator for TAC. #AfricaUpdate #RightToKnow #Hiv
