Really wish this was reinforced by the movie’s tone and the way the characters interact or discuss the Kaiju/Titans. All of the ironic humor really ruins the vibe.
My favorite take is how the kaijus were portrayed as like a pantheon of gods. Best seen in the stunning visuals too. With Mothra descending in a ball of celestial light from the heavens, and Ghidorah crawling out of literal Hell.

Literally watch any Kurosawa or Spielberg or Edward Yang or Altman or Coppola or Kubrick or Soderbergh or Jacques Tati and so on. Standards are truly in hell.

This is the Monsterverse. Let’s be honest w/ ourselves now.
Do you think there’s like significant ramifications for the Monsterverse’s religious institutions after its revealed that Satan is just completely real, but he was just an giant alien dragon who then unceremoniously got killed by a giant lizard in a fist fight

Now seeing posts saying Clayface is the most experimental CBM and that it’s better than Obsession. Can’t make this up.
DCU fans are saying Clayface is better than Sinners…

Also, I have now seen Clayface. It ain’t all that unfortunately. Would’ve loved to be blown away by a movie like that tho but it’s just so safe and mediocre.

I don't care about the hypothetical financial success of a shared universe designed to leverage Skydance out of its massive hole of debt. I care about whether the movies are good. I'm not tossing away Matt Reeves' "The Batman" to shove fan service in a mediocre "Clayface" film.
You all won’t admit it, but I will. Matt Reeves hogging the Batman character and taking 7 years to release a fucking Batman movie is costing the DCU’s success It’s hard for general audiences to care about fucking Clayface when he can’t even fight Batman. Reeves is stingy af.

Currently watching the new Carrie show. So far really digging how every character ties into and mirrors the same theme of the cyclical nature of how people look for scapegoats for their pain and anger. It builds on itself like an infection through the whole town.

DCU fans just straight up attack and dogpile on anyone who doesn’t like the newest thing. Kid Cudi, Heavy Spoilers, this Amy person. Best case is they just bully you but the worst is that they send you death threats. At what point do we call this out for what it is?

"the batman part 1 was the worst thing to happen to the cbm community" because it made most people realize that these movies can actually be good and that they should have higher standards, lol
Reevesverse fans are worse than DCU fans. Like, it’s not even comparable. It’s the same toxic film bro community that glazes Matt Reeves’ grounded slop The Batman part 1 was the worst thing to happen to the cbm community. Taking 6 years to release the sequel only makes it worse.

This obsession with removing conflict from stories and characters will kill fiction.
