Lol
We seriously need to start looking at Princewill Ehibhatiomhan as a first-team option.
Another goal for the U21s today. Which is still being played so he could get another 🤣 . He had already reached 16 goals in 11 starts this season before today, and he’s continuing to find the net.
At some point we have to give the lad a proper chance. We can’t keep producing young talent, leaving them waiting for an opportunity and then watching them move on elsewhere.
He’s knocking on the door. Let’s not wait until it’s too late. 🔴⚪

89% possession in the second half and we still couldn’t find a way to score. 😭
All that dominance, all that pressure, but ultimately what does it count for if we’re not putting the ball in the net?
We’ve got to be more ruthless in the final third. Possession doesn’t win you games.

Saints have had 91% possession in the second half. I've never seen it that high.

Sam Edozie getting himself on the scoresheet at West Brom was a big positive.
Confidence is everything for attacking players. Hopefully he can build on that today.
Another contribution would be very welcome! 🔴⚪

Easy afternoon. 4-1 Saints. 🔴⚪
Plenty of goals, three points and another statement of intent.
Who’s getting on the scoresheet today?

Six unbeaten. Another away day. One more chance to build some momentum before the international break.
Preston are struggling, but we cannot afford to take anything for granted.
Let’s get the job done, Saints. 🔴⚪

👋 Jay Rodriguez remembers THAT sensational Southampton team from the mid 2010s.

Preston away. Saturday afternoon. Another big opportunity for Saints.
I’m going 1-3 Southampton.
Think we’ll have too much quality going forward if we play to our strengths.
What’s your prediction?

Callum Lang is the Preston player I’ll be keeping a close eye on.
Four league goals so far and their leading scorer.
We cannot afford to give him time or space around the box. Keep him quiet and we’ll have gone a long way towards controlling their biggest attacking threat.
Also was once a pompey player …

One thing I’m interested to see on Saturday is how we deal with Preston’s back three.
Their wing-backs provide width, which could leave space in behind when they push forward.
Scienza attacking those spaces, Azaz finding pockets between the lines and Matsuki making late runs could cause them real problems.
Move the ball quickly, stretch their shape and don’t let them settle into a physical game.
That’s where I think we can hurt them.

Two teams heading into Saturday in very different form.
Preston have been struggling for results, while we are unbeaten in their last five league games, scoring nine in the process.
We need to take advantage of that momentum.
No complacency at Deepdale.
