Noble Kings,
We’re aware that some players are not seeing their DLC Kings unlock after purchasing the Crowns of History DLC. To fix this issue, please follow the guide below:
- In your Steam Library, right-click The King is Watching > Properties > DLC and make sure your DLC is checked.
- Under Properties > Installed Files, verify the integrity of game files.
- For Linux/Steam Deck, switch to Proton Experimental: right-click the game > Properties > Compatibility, check "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool," and select Proton Experimental.
- An outdated Steam client (older than SteamClient023) may cause issues detecting newly unlocked DLC. You can view your current version under Help > About Steam. If Steam fails to update to the latest build on its own:
- Go to your Steam install folder (usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam). If steam.cfg is present, rename it to steam.cfg.bak (or open it and change BootStrapperInhibitAll=Enable to BootStrapperInhibitAll=Able). Restart Steam to let it update.
- If the file isn't there and Steam still won't update, reinstalling the Steam client should resolve it.
If the DLC still won't unlock, please contact us here: tinybuild.theymes.com/hc/en/… and include your OS along with as many details as possible!

There’s more than one way to survive the wasteland. Pick the Ride that carries your city and the Rider who leads it, then play to their strengths — whether they favour aggression, production or clever use of their skills.

It’s never an easy ride when your city sits on a giant crab. Every building has its own shape, and shell space is tight. Production, firepower or speed? You won’t have room for everything, so plan smart.
"We ran out of shell" makes a pretty lame epitaph. 💀
