Southern New Jersey: All Hallows Eve Celebration
The Southern New Jersey chapter of the Catholic Land Movement is holding its kickoff! Join us for an All Hallows Eve fire pit party on Saturday, October 31, at the Saint Hildegard Mission House, 1105 Tuckahoe Rd, Milmay, NJ, as we celebrate the holy saints.
The Mission House is still a work in progress and doesn’t have a kitchen yet, so we’re ordering pizza. Feel free to bring treats and your favorite drinks to share, and please RSVP so we know how many pizzas to order.
RSVP to Nicole at [email protected] or call/text 856-524-9800.

This is the Catholic Land Movement in action: working with our hands, making good use of what we have, and serving those around us.
There is dignity in labor.
There is reward in doing the hard things.
Our sweat has meaning, and through charity, we are building REAL community.

Building Catholic community—one loaf at a time. 🍞
At our recent North Idaho skillshare, families learned to mill wheat, maintain a sourdough starter, bake sandwich bread, and store grain for the household.

Had a memorable visit with the young men of Saint Martin’s academy in Kansas. Gave a talk on Catholic Social teaching & @CatholicLand, shared a meal, lost two games of chess and enjoyed the good cheer. A great group of young men.

Catholic author Jenny duBay picked up a used book on eBay: dust jacket torn, a little handwriting inside the cover. It turns out that the writing is a dedication from Fr. Vincent McNabb to his niece, one of the great voices behind the cause of the Catholic Land Movement.
Thank you, Jenny, for sharing it with us!

Spent the last few weeks in the central Midwest, Indiana, Missouri, and rural Illinois. Beautiful people. Now I’m in Wisconsin and I immediately feel comfortable and at home in a way I didn’t in the previous places. There’s something about Northern blood. I’m a man of the north.

In many ordinary places, there is an extraordinary movement of things. The mind, hearts and work of so many are harmonized. I feel like I’m witnessing this incredible, beautiful thing that I fail so terribly at communicating to a larger witness.
There are so many working in harmony, turning the land, carrying their brothers, and moving towards God. If we could just all see one another at once the strengthening of resolve would be a catalyst that would change social order profoundly.
To all those working the integration of land, community and God. You are not alone. Be bold and courageous. Grow in Faith, Hope and Charity. We already won. We just have to see it, connect, and persist.

Spent the evening with an inspiring Catholic homesteading family tonight. They feed me and my children a dinner grown on their land and then gifted me meat, homemade wine and eggs. It is a absolute privilege to be traveling and encountering so many great families.

Classic CLM workshops at the Green Bay conference. Cider, sourdough and Catholic Fatherhood on the homestead.
I also have the Distributist propaganda table set up.

Great FSSP Mass in Naperville Illinois.i love the Latin Mass it will always feel like home wherever I am. Communion through the greatest sacrifice ever made and the redemption of us all. What an incredible gift to humanity.

I had a very good event in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Visited an urban farm project called Kinship that hosted the CLM talk. 11 hoop houses that are producing 20,000 pounds of produce a season for food banks. They also provide housing for youth missionaries that work the farm. A deep harmony with the mission of the Catholic Land Movement. Great place and people. kinshipmke.org

Look at these bees getting a drink of water from the house spigot!
These are likely the wild honeybees which took residence in a hole in a tree right outside of our house.
Hoping to catch them next spring if they make it through the winter!

Jefferson’s yeoman was not nostalgia. Independent property owners could resist both oligarchs and mobs. Widespread ownership of productive land and tools was the material basis of liberty. When most people own nothing they can work with their own hands, politics becomes a fight over who controls the remaining few.

As I travel around the country, it’s more and more evident that America is at a unique moment to consider
Distributism and Third position. Let’s consider the foundational principles of America and contemporary context . The American left-right binary has become toxic. Both sides concentrate power—corporate or state—and treat families as clients or consumers. That fails the Jeffersonian ideal that built the country: a republic of independent owners, not dependents. Small landholders, he said, are “the most precious part of a state.” We have drifted far from that.
