This entire year these have been the ONLY Guidebooks to #Nepal with earthquake updates bit.ly/21urMEE <---
Another massive flash flood has hit #Nepal today. This time the Manaslu/Tsum Valley - effectively closing that trek. No fatalities reported yet.
Despite "officials" saying all these treks are open. I warned not to trek for several weeks post rain thelongestwayhome.com/blog/n…
When will #Nepal put safety first over money and numbers? Aside from heavy snow & rain two weeks ago. It's been raining up until today. It's been deeply distressing watching people say "go go go" when the reality of more floods, to those with experience, was inevitable.
Even the trekking guides in #Nepal are fed up of the fake AI news coming out of the industry .... and the "official" organisations posting lies - with feet up on their desks instead of being out there seeing what's actually open or not. facebook.com/reel/2901932303…
After a week of heavy rain, the non-surprise of blocked passes & avalanches now closes treks across #Nepal. All of this is predictable. Yet, by tomorrow there will be more "come visit we are open" posts everywhere - just like after the flood.
AI has it's place. But, the number of Nepali using it to spew out "content". Without understanding, the basis of the content. Is 🤪
Least we forget about the trekking guide AI image and infographic barrage we see everyday 🤮
Ouch, this @kathmandupost is so far off base.
1) Largely AI written
2) TripAdvisor & PATA numbers? Nooo, does not compute!
Paid rankings do not = good data
Even the AI created "right" cards, are wrong. The f'ing national highway was broken folks!

Manaslu Treks are open again. Locals built a temporary wooden bridge thelongestwayhome.com/travel…
Important: Sept 6th flood & landslide on the Manaslu trek near Namrung, #Nepal. All trekkers are requested to NOT undertake the trek until further notice. More info thelongestwayhome.com/travel…
#NepalCalling #Nepalflood
How about charging tourists local prices for KTM-POK flights until the road is open, instead of double charging them? Or letting them know about Gongabu mini vans? That would help instead of saying "everything is normal in #Nepal". It's not.
Kathmandu to Pokhara road link is broken. And will be for the next month at least. This is the honesty a #nepaliscalling campaign needs. Not going around saying "everything is fine" - just come. Flights & jeeps destroy budgets at near $150 pp one way.
Meanwhile, Nepal has fallen off the mainstream media's frontpages for the first day in a week. On the ground people are beginning to work on where to relocate the flood survivors. I hope blaming "climate change" doesn't become Nepal's main trumpet in the weeks ahead.
Once things get a little quieter, I'll publish. As the stats and reasoning is a real eyeopener to many in the tourism industry. The flood will add to it, but it is by no means the biggest reason for the downturn in tourism numbers this year.
So, I was going to publish something about the decrease in tourists to #Nepal this year, but then the flood occurred. Now it seems tourism in Nepal will be blaming the flood for the decrease ... a huge mistake. Tourism is/was already down by a huge margin.
One week after the Nepal Flood disaster and the International news media frenzy has finally cooled down. The latest updates thelongestwayhome.com/travel…
I've updated my #Nepal Floods 2026 page with the latest information for tourists, including the road delays along the National Highway due to repairs taking place thelongestwayhome.com/travel…
Landslide in Tsum Valley #Nepal : Social media is incorrectly hyping this with the flood disaster - the landslide did not occur near a trekking trail, nor was it to do with the glacial floods.
List of missing trekkers in Langtang Valley right now. This does not mean they were in the flood. It means they passed the checkpoint into the valley. Communications in & out of the valley are broken. Hopefully they are safe at a village inside the valley until the area is opened
