To support home and heritage languages, we’re setting up a national network of assessment centres where pupils can enter a GCSE in a range of HHLs. Gujarati and Polish are the models. Find out more at ncle-language-hubs.ucl.ac.uk… and sign up to our newsletter for updates.
Thank you @HelenMyers @RachelHawkes60 for your amazing talks and ideas! It has been a wonderful experience which I look forward to repeating next year!

If a student doesn’t have a pen, don’t ‘just give them a pen’.
Instead you could:
-Give them a pen and take note. If it happens again, follow up with a consequence
-Give them a purple pen so it’s easy to show parents days equipment isn’t right
-Teach them how to locate a pen
-Teach them how to pack properly for the day
-Privately, ask if there are any reasons why they aren’t ready
-Record any equipment issues, daily
-Teach them why being organised matters.
-Teach them to bring three pens a day.
Don’t ’just give them a pen.’ You are not Stationery Santa. Don’t teach them to be helpless. Show them you care by teaching them to be independent.
